corsa problem

mate got a 95sri its got the 1.4 16v eco tech engine. the problem is that she rev's out at 5,000 revs. he was old it was the knock sensor tho he's had it changed an she still aint reving past 5,000 does anyone know wat the fault is thanks alot for any help givin

even tho ther completly diff engines on my 1.4 8v the crank to cam breather was blocked it got to about 5k rpm then sorta gurgled and had no power.

no mate this just stops at 5k rpm i was thinkin maybe a limiter but wonderin if it were somethin simplier

check all ignition components leads etc if there coroded they can do stuff like that.
is it smooth up till 5k??

yea shes quick up until it tho sports dont really get there power til abbout 5k rpm could there be a wire or something disconnected

try changing the throttle position censor...

on the throttle body usually. could probably do with being hooked up to a computer/diagnostic machine. most backstreet garages should have the old snap-on handheld version, and will probably charge about an hours labour for looking at it.

Check the crank gear isn't slipping round the crank. (what the cambelt runs on, the woodruff key usually disintegrates, ok until you rev it up and it alters the tiimng!!) Very common on the early x14xe.

What does it normally rev too?? 7k? No eml on?

If it has the fault i mentioned it will rev ok then just drop off, usually with a large induction dull roar.

always limits at 5k i thought it was a limiter allow a mechainic says it was a knock sensor but that never fixed it when it was replaced

thats exactly wat mine felt like.if u boot it upto 5k then back off then plant it again does it still feel like its limited below the 5k??

it wont go over 5k all of the time no matter wat you do

thats not wat i meant its hard to explain.but id take a look at all vacums etc then take it to a garage have it plugged in.
