If this is a x16xe or a c16xe...

Theres no AFM(if its like a 16se/20xe AFM) theres just like a plug type thingy going into the Air Hose that connects to the inlet..

Is the C16 a Corsa engine and the X16 an Astra engine?

Ohh forgot to add its from a T Reg Corsa sport..

the top half of the inlet manifold on a c16xe is plastic, and the c16xe has an AFM, also on the plastic rocker cover cover on a c16xe it says vauxhall and not ecotec

ahhh sorted.. cheers bud...

whats the diff with the engines then?

were can i get tuning parts?

as far as i'm aware the x16xe has slightly smaller inlet ports than the c16xe, the x16xe has the Secondary Air Injection system which the c16xe doesn't, i imagine that the blocks are the same, the x16xe has a transponder and immobiliser system built into the ecu wiring which you will need if you are planning on putting one in another car, the c16xe doesn't have this, i think that that is about it, somebody else will probably know more, sbd do performance parts for these engines but they are expensive, lots of people fit mantzel style inlet manifolds for power gains of upto 20bhp with a remap. I don't know wether this is true or not, but i heard that cosworth develpoed this engine and it made nearly 150bhp but this would have meant there was no need for the c20xe, so apparently lotus restricted it with that massively long and complex inlet to 109bhp for the c16xe and 106bhp for the x16xe, hope this helps

As maccas says.
Its a X16xe.
It has MAP sensor, AIR injection system(see the valve on the exhaust manifold), EGR system, alloy upper inlet, ECOTEC plastic engine cover.
C16 has AFM, no air/egr, plastic inlet, different exhaust manifold etc.

The difference is about 3/4bhp.

Remember get the pickup and igntion key,and ecu for the immobiliser system tho.

You can get mantzel inlet copies etc for ?200, but no doubt you'd loose some torque and probably get a few flat spots still on the standard map. A re-map helps a lot.

Pick up igntion key?

Is there anyway of gettin round havin the key?

yes you can have the ecu recoded works with out it then costs about ?200 tho
cant remember where i had the last one done

Pick up igntion key?

Yeah, you need the immobiliser pickup barrel(from around the ignition barrel)
and the ignition key(or just the transponder chip out of it) be careful as its fecking tiny and easy loose.

As above you can get the ecu immobiliser wiped, pointless tho for the sake of about 5extra wires. Thats ?200 towards some tuning goodies,Lol.

Ye but i'm gussin the guys gonna need the lil sucker for his car still?

Hes puttin a zlet in it

The ecu, pickup, and key chip are a matched set.
So he will need the chip/pickup/ecu to his zlet.

Just take the chip out the key and give him the key back...
