well mate - i aint got a 16valve - but i reckon you are asking that question in totally the wrong place.

EVERYONE on here worships the 2.0 so...

how about a 1.8 16v from a new astra? power and torque, and the loving fact you won't have to seem weld the engine bay if its free from rust cause its a small block engine. Then you can use your exsisting mounts and driveshafts being a SR, and then all you will need is the GTE fuel lines etc... Worth a look...

I've given in to respecting the 16v, but I'm most definately not a 2.0l worshipper!

**Why take a big block on the track when you can whoop ar*e with a small block?**

but wont it be either hard to find - or really expensive getting one from a new astra?

Not sure, I spoke to someone who reckons they would cost ?300 - ?500 not sure if they were speaking outta there arse or not? It maybe more expensive but it would probs have around 10,000 to 20,000 miles on, which is obvious a point to sell the car on when it comes to that....

Ste, I spoke to someone who reckons that a 1.8 16v wieghs like 10KGs more than the 1.6 8v (Again could be speaking outta his arse) is it really worth spending all the money on getting it seam wleded for an extra 10 kgs (if it is that) DEC's isn't seam welded with his 1.6 16v, and thats pushing out more power than the standard 1.8 16v. Even karthiks wasn't seam welded and he was running a 2.0 16v Turbo, Not my choice to run a 2.0 16v with an un seamed engine bay but there you go.....

Seriously? Any signs of stress? I ask because I went to have a look at a 3door (as much as I love the 5door, lets face it 3doors are the way to go) vavler to buy it, and there where obvious signs of stress at the strut tops where the shock was pushing through.

I am going for the 1.8 16v. If I can afford it by mid april.

About as welcome here as a fart in a space suit...
