is it possible to take the head of a 1.416V corsa and stick it onto an sri block making it a 1.416VSRi ??

Do the pistons have valve recesses in them? if they do the 8v will only have 2 in each piston, but the 16v will need 4 in each? Take a plug out and have a look. Can't think of any other problems it may cause.

The head will fit the block, you'll need the 16v pistons to get the compression correct then you've just got to bolt the timing belt tensioners to the block and i'm not sure the holes etc are there for that!
