View Full Version : ?75 to cancel my insurance?!
Just rang up Churchill to cancel my policy as i sold my nova, having just paid ?77 about 2 weeks ago for another months insurance but sold my car on Sunday, just rang up Churchill and told them i wish to cancel my policy and they told me its going to cost me another 75 quid! I replied with, ''but the next payment isnt even due to next month and i wont be neading it anyway'' but somehow i still have to pay ?75 AND spend money on a stamp and envelope sending the policy certificate back! What a rip off, I think all this insurance stuff is a bit silly now, but its the stupid idiots that drive like pr*cks that make it this way, to be perfectly honest im glad people are getting caught for speeding and im glad to hear theres a 2 year probation on licences, anyone who drives over the speed limit deserves everything they get, the limits are there for a safety reason and also if people stuck to them they wouldnt crash therefore i wouldnt have to pay a premium of ?1158 for a 1.3!
So, do all insurers charge money to cancel policys?
yes they do... its fecking annoying.

yep!
Think about it though, when you take a policy on a pay monthly you are effectively entering into a credit agreement...
eg. You wouldn't sell your fridge that you were paying for on credit and expect to stop paying for it because 'you dont own it anymore'.
why did you cancel tho and not simply change the vehicle details to your new motor ??
I wouldnt sell my fridge............ thats where the food comes from!
Im just a bit anoyed cus this means i cant spend ?75 on the new interior for my beetle i have to spend it on something that im not ever likely to see materlize and something that im not even able to use.
why did you cancel tho and not simply change the vehicle details to your new motor ??
They told me i had to change to a ''classic car'' insurance policy as the car is 34 years old

lol
would have been cheaper to transfer your policy to the beatle though.
On an aside, when you change your policy to a new vehicle, does that mean you have the 14 days grace to try and find a cheaper policy and if you do you are well within your rights to cancel at no charge??

Or the big hairy bailiffs turning up on your door and taking your TV etc
i was more bothered about the CCJ, its hard enough to buy a house as it is at the minute

They can come take my tv, sounds a bit dodgey tho and sometimes it dont work. Infact, instead of taking my 75 quid they can come do me a favour and take my tv!
