2day i put my new engine in put all my head,carbs(40's) on etc cars runnin but say eg its tickin over at 900 and u rev it, it dont go back to norm(900) it sticks at about 1800,checked all the linkages sprayed wiv wd40 there all fine and returnin. Could it b somin stickin in the carbs? if so wat, and y as it just done it when i took the head off then put it back on.
well this wats appen to me so far:
set out to change the lifters, when tighenin head bolts vauxhall go dont use a washer, then the bolt snapped took head off, got it recoiled, put head back on, timin was out inlet valve all bent head off again, bought new inlet vavles from blydenstien(not cheap) got the re cut, put head back on then found out that when they drilled the old bolt out metal got down the oil way and caused it to scor shells, so took head of again, got new bottom end, put that in car 2day put together, that seems ok but now revs stick was doin the previous times when i took the head of re built etc but not when it was goin before i started all tis nightmare.:(

There is moral to this story somewhere amongst all you trials and tribulations - not sure what it is tho! Lol!

Get an airflow meter and check that the airflows thru the carbs are equal i.e balance them. Makes sure that the stop screws are set right so that the main butterflies full close. Use a mirror and small mag torch to check down the trumpets. Then you may need to re-set the air correction screws. To do this screw them fully in and then open each up about a couple of turns. Get the engine warm and then adjust each no more than half a turn at a time listening with a pipe to each trumpet and generally at engine until it runs smoothly and consistently. Allow time for the engine to settle between each change Finally set your idle stop
If its too difficult go to a tuner. Am I right in thinking you've a 1.4 in now. If so it will need re-jetting and also the timing will prob need doing.
