If it's even welcome on here LOL I just thought it adds a bit of variety and SR Lew is interested ha ha. Was gona put it in 'projects' but seems a bit Nova heavy in there

I will update it and include more detail if it doesn't get deleted!

OK, 1st up, I bought this 1983 mk1 xr2 with light front end damage after it had been stood on the previous owners drive for a year for the princely sum of 200 pounds about 6 weeks ago.

I bought it with the assumption it needed a new front panel, inner wing, outer wing, bonnet and headlight, bumper etc

So stripped the front end to see what was hiding

I can buy replacement panels for everywhere except where the inner wing has been crushed, so I beat it back into some sort of shape, still looked $hit though. Plus the metal was uber thin, chopped a section out of another shell I came across and looks loads better IMO

Gettin' there LOL

The whole idea of this car was to see if I could have a cool summer runaround without spending a fortune and so far it's working. I just want something presentable that I'm not polughing money into, my plans will eventually involve rebuilding the 1600 crossflow on twin 40's etc.

It stands me at 370 pound and thats bought me the car, crossmember, inner wing drip rail, front panel, outer wing, section of inner wing from spare shell, bonnet, new battery, kyb agx shocks, x2 front floor pans, sheet steel and other bits and pieces, I've gotten some free things also, xr2 front bumper complete, swapped rs 13" 7 spokes for original mk1 pepper pots

replacement

Normally I wouldn't entertain this especially with the state my Novas floor was in (nothing compared to this lol) but all it really costs is time, steel is as good as free, and the occasional panel is about 10/15 quid, when the inside is done and the front I am probably going to have to replace the boot floor, looks a bit crusty and possibly the rear valance, then get it painted etc I reckon I can have it on the road for 7/800 quid and it will be rock solid unlike a lot of them. Not bad IMO

What do people think?

Got some more front end seam welding done tonight, all things going well the fron should be entirely finished (structurally) tommorrow, then I can red oxide, hammerite etc :)

Had some random knocking on the back door yesterday when I wasn't in askin my mam if it was for sale and it if was an XR2 or an RST - mk1 RST lol

Yeah Supersports are the $hit! My mate from school had a sunburst red 1300 for his 1st car @ 17, at the time we didn't think 'old skool' lol

Shame! I would love to have that car now!
