i know there's a guide on here for this, but i'm thick, lol.
Anyway, i want to know what size wheels and offset i can fit to a basic 1992 1.2i nova, i also want to lower the car 40mm so they must be able to fit under the arches with NO MODS at all, since i can't get the car to a garage (i have no insurance yet). Am i right in saying that 195/45/15 will fit perfect?
if so, how about 195/45/16.

I have 195/45/15's (ET49) with -40 lowered suspension. There is no rubbing usually, but go over a bump with 4 blokes in it and you do hear the odd scrapping noise. Worth thinking about if you will be carrying passengers.

HOGGE TD you have put 195/45/15's (ET49), isn't the 45 bit in the middle the offset??

and ste, are you 100% sure that 16's will fit with no mods, oh, and what inch wide are your 16's, coz i want sum 16s

it depends on a lot of things. The '45' hes mentionig is the tyre profile, stick to a 45, and u should be ok. Ive got a 1.4 sr mk3 in 195/45/R15 with a 49 offset. Make sure you get an offset between 40 - 49mm. (think thats the figure i will dig my info out and check then reply again) It also depends on what MK nova u got. Hope that helps

I got 195/50/15 et42/3 (cant remember) lowered 35mm and I had to grind loads off my rear arches. If you want to make no arch mods you will need et45-49 I reckon. I know that mine are 50 profile not 45 but that relates to the height, not the width of the wheel so shouldn't make much difference. My mate fitted tigra wheels et49 195 50 15's with no arch work at all and its lowered 60mm.
