However, as a small part of my course i do a unit in 3D studio max, i'd imagine something similar was used for this. And it's actually pretty easy to pick up ! you'd be suprised at what you can do with it !

Thats quality!! fair play reminds me of "Initial D" this crazy japanese drift animation series which is Extremely addictive! type it into youtube is good viewing + tells you all these cool driving techniques and mechanical explanations!
