Is it possible to slap a 16v head on my engine instead of the 8v or will it need a full replacement? if i can do it, are there any other mods i'll need to make? i.e. fuel pressure etc. ta.

no m8, all the waterways are different, and the compression ratios, same as the 1.4 8v/1.4 16v prob

the blocks are the same, cause the 16v heads were developed to fit the 8v bottom ends... but the ??? makes it not worth it because everything else is different

The 1.4/1.6 16v head definitely do fit the 1.6/1.4 8v bottom ends.
However as Ste says its expensive.
You will need 16v water pump, 16v crank pulley, all the various 16v sensors, 16v loom plus all the connectors to fit the sensors, uprated fuel piping, electric fuel pump etc etc

OMG, i spoke to soon, i compared the 16v head gasket to the 8v head gasket, everything is a different shape on the head gasket, and a few extra holes here n there. but iv compared the bottom end and they are exactly the same!!
hhmm, dodgy head gaskets lol.
now how the hell do u get the pulley off the water pump, im on a winner here :)
