What engine would you recommend

I am goin to take my engine out and i was thinking if its out i may aswell put a bigger one in my dad has got a 1.6 out of an aster with the black top but i dont no also got a 1.4 si out of a corsa please could you give me some ideas thanks

the corsa sri one would be better than the astra they are s**t!

e16se is probley the best one you could go for after that id go for the sri engine as there the same conversion really depends if you car is an injection model or a carb

Astras came with Nova GSi engines?

think he means the 8valve single point injection one they have a black top looks similar to a sfi box from a c20xe but has 2 air feedtubes from airbox

Not sure its out of a r reg astra think they change them a bit not sure

sure they done a 1.6 mpi astra as well with a black cam cover not sure of the code though presume it would be c16se

I'd fit a 14SE or 16SE (GSi lump) or go for a smallblock valver tbh.

seriously though.... the 1.6 16v engine is very good, suffers baddly from piston slap though, so many need reboring by the time we think of buying them 2nd hand. Lots of goodies can be got for them and go very well on throttle bodies when mapped properly

is a cracking motor as ive got one, just try an lose the terrible inlet set-up

SBD throttle body kit is awsome, mine went like stink. Costs quite a bit but worth it.

well my dads got a corsa in the yard and its a 1.4 si its not a carb i might get that but someone took the rocker cover off and left the bonnet up and all the rains got in and the cams rusty but dont no what eles it has do will this be a problem

if some one left the cam cover off and rain got in, the full motor will probably want a rebuild wouldnt bother!
