hiya, does anyone know how much torque a front castle nut needs, and is it essential to have a torque wrench, or can you do it by hand, someone once told me just nip it up with your fingers and chuck the split pin in.
thanks :thumb:

Nip it up with your fingers is for the REAR hub nut.

The FRONT one needs to be mega tight, its something like 25nm, and a 90deg turn.
Comes to about 180-200Nm i think, in other words, fookin tight,Lol.

yeah the hub nut. hhhmmm i was told that if you do them up anymore than 5 or 10nm then it crushes the bearing and kills it.
the only reason i ask is because i replaced a bearing about 2 months ago and did the hub nut quite tight without a torque wrench and it was proper ****ed within about 2 weeks lol

Thats the rear's mate.

The front has a different type of bearing, and the hutnut holds it all together.

Hanyes says do it to 100nm, then back it off, then do it to 20, then another 90 degrees. If the holes dont line up for the split pin then back it up.

rears need to be set first so nip them up moderately tight, then back off and tighten till the washer wont move, then bakc off a touch and pin that.

the fronts, as posted above :d
