Santa Pod today

Been to pod today to see how the corsa was doing. The times were very poor indeed and I?ll get the excuses out the way first lol. I went down on my own an thus had no where to keep / store my track tyres so just decided to use my well bo fuel saver ones which cost about ?15 and also did have a tyre pressure gauge so couldn?t really play with the pressures. An this meant I got zero traction with lots of smoke. My best 60ft time was 2.3 seconds to show how bad.

The other problem I came to was laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag, far to much of it, it was coming off boost on gear changes which lost me a lot of time. I was also running without nitrous today and it was clear today that I need to use that to get rid of the lag in between gear changes.

My best time was 13.1@112mph (13.1@112mph), the terminal speeds are what I was getting last year or up by 1mph on one run, which means im making equalling the speed I got last year without the nitrous so I have made an improvement som how lol.

But things that need to be done for next week are plump in nitrous, use some better tyres and up the boost a little more as its only running 20psi at the moment.

On the plus side I did drive there do some runs an drive it back with nothing breaking.

I went today only as its meant to be pissing it down tomorrow. I would like to add that 13.1 is crap lmfao. The 20psi is nothing really, the turbo I have will do about 45psi (not that im going to)lol.

Also i forgot to say I had to wear a helmet as well as i went over 110mph over the line ect... an when i was putting on to go down i heard loads of laughing, so looked round to a car full of asians. They then asked me i had my log book on me so they could race for slips. Luckyily for me i didnt end up racing their battered mazda 121 lol

Yes first time down pod for a long for me. Annoying thing was that when i left the winning time in my group was 12.88@111mph, ghey.

Also there was a massive crash on the way out. Down the lane as you get the at the cross roads a scooby had gone full chat into the back of a punto which got pushed into a evo. All of them seriously fooked, all happened about 3 cars in front of me. You got to love tools driving beyond their limits.

I've just got back from the pod. It was pretty quiet to be honest, me and a mate watched every run they guy who did the announcements was taking the piss at first, then said your first run wasnt too shabby.

There was two other corsas both let's one running low 12's and the other about the same as you. I was gona say alright as we walked past but wasnt too sure if you was driving or not... Oh and the richard burns scooby was a bit of a mess Big shame as that thing was Uber mint.

Good day out tbh, and some fooking quick jap cars doing 8sec quarters Fookin nutters. that civic tub which was constantly getting really low 12's and the little fiat 500's with durty v8's :D

ive just got back aswell. was a good day out as there were some seriously quick machines there and i went out in one of the drift cars :), id love to know what was in the civic aswell as he did a 12.1!!! i got to see phil and his car aswell which sounds awesome

Managed a 13.6@107 which is totally w.ank. Nearly stalled coming off the line, and hit the limiter. lol

Phil, are you using a T34 ? if so they wont go anywhere near 45 psi lol maybe for a second before they empty themselves into your inlet.

What exhaust housing are you using ? If your using a .63 ex housing then a switch to a .55 might be a smart move if you cant dial the lag out with the nitrous. All this isme assuming its a Escort Cosworth T34 your running lol

Anti lag again would be a total waste of time without some proper launch control, wasted on fwd IMO

Just stick the gas on it (100hp) and use a long progression to overcome the lag and then full power when on boost.

No its not a T34, thats what i had on before. Its a GT30 now and has a .63 housing. I shall have a go this weekend hopefully with the nitrous an see what it does, but before then i have to do some other work which is gay.

Ah gone up a few steps then. ffs dont use anti lag on that turbo whatever you do lol

I should imagine with the nitrous setup correctly you should get that turbo spooling plenty quick enough.

Another 11 sec car possibly, although Gav did manage it without a dustbin for a turbo ;)
