Sounds like failing to stop might be added in aswell, to be completely honest you deserve what you get when caught driving without insurance, and in my opinion most don't get much more than a small fine which is NOT going to make them ensure they are fully legal in the future.

rant mode off.

well imo if you drive without license or insurance etc i think you deserve to be banned, as its people like you that make our insurance so high

Firstly, the court will want to know why you were driving and will question its urgency, if its relatively poor excuse, then you will get slammed.
Secondly, they will take into account your previous driving record, do you have a history of this sort of thing or is it a first time mistake?
How far out was the MOT and insurance? I few days and they might show some leniency, especially if you give them the one about needing to work to earn money to get the car MOT'd + insured so you can keep driving it and keep working rather than sponging off the dole.
I'm not going to say what you should and shouldn't be doing, the courts will establish that for you. Just make sure you are straight and honest with them, tell them what you intend to do and take their advice if you do get away with this lightly.

Spot on! there isn't really much point driving a car unless yourself and the car are fully road legal!

IMHO i think you'll be looking at a 6 month ban, and possibly a fine! or at least court costs, just hope you learn by your mistakes!

well i can see you getting banned with 6 points and a big fine, and when you retake your driving test, you will have to take an extended test which is twice as long and hard as a normal test!

Just get all of their evidence by informal disclosure & find out if everything was actually done by the book. then find out when your local Solicitor does free interviews. Other than that, there is no help. Knowing you did wrong is probably the best thing, but I can't imagine you were innocently driving along because if you were, plod would not have pulled you over.

i g ot done just over four years ago-
i let my mate drive me home after a nite on the piss(he hadnt been drinking)

my license got revoked and had to go thru the ****hole of passing my test again-the points have just come off my license but syill have to declare to insurance for another year

IT FOOKS U UP GOOD TIME GETTING INSURANCE,IM 25 NOW AND IM PAYING THE SAME NOW AS I WAS WHEN I WAS 19 FOR INSURANCE-I HAD 2 GO ON MY DADS FOR 2 YEARS AS I COULDNT AFFORD THE PREMIUMS

hope that wasnt aimed @ me

mine was thru pure mis understanding-i was told he was covered

I CHECK NOW-OR DONT ALLOW OTHERS TO DRIVE MY CAR--WHAT EVER IT IS

Dave.
07-05-07, 12:33 AM
well. you shouldve been given a yellow form, called either an mvd1 or an mvd2

if you signed an mvd1 then you authorize for the car to be csrapped lol

uf you sighn a mvd2 then youll need to produce your licence and insurance for you on that car, then itll be ?105 and 12 per day

Did they not offer you the option of disclaiming the car and offence there and then? If they did you could have had a fixed penalty notice for the no insurance which is exactly the same as a speeding ticket except carries 6 points and a ?200 fine. They would have still seized your car under Section 165 of the Road Traffic act and charged you recovery and storage until you got insurance then went and collected it or after around 12 days it would be crushed. If offered the ticket you should have taken it then you would have only been summonsed to court for the no MOT.

They not do fixed penalties for insurance round your way?

In short shouldnt have done it in the first place - plank

I hope you live close enough to walk to work otherwise your gonna be paying to get the bus every day... in the long run it might work out nearly as expensive as paying for your insurance.
