Hi

I havent got an engne in me nova atm. I was going to put a 1.3 block ive got into it but it is fully stripped and it needs new piston rings. Ive also got a 1.2 block which is in perfect condition.

HOw much power will i be losing considering im using a piper cam and a weber 32/34?

I would just rebuild the 1.3 but im completly skint atm :(

dont know if it would be the same for you, but my mate changed his 1.2 for a 1.3 and it was loads quicker.

I've mentioned it before, I reckon the major power differences between a 1.2 and 1.3 is the restrictive single barrel carb on the 1.2. What about sticking in the 1.2 lump, but with the 1.3 inlet manifold and twin barrel carb?

Nothing to do with the carb.......when I first fitted my 1.3 SR engine in my Antibes, I had to use the old 1.2-spec Pierburg 1B1 carb and inlet manifold (the carb that came with the engine was duff) and it was still MILES quicker than it was with the 1.2 engine.

Your best option (if you've got the time and can be bothered with the effort) is to combine the two engines to make a 1.4!

The 1.2 block has a larger bore than the 1.3, but the 1.3 has a longer stroke.
By using the 1.2 block with the 1.3 crank and con-rods, you combine both this longer stroke and the larger bore, which nicely makes a 1.4!
Just make sure you re-hone the bores to allow for the extra movement of the pistons (due to new longer stroke)

What ever you do, use the 1.2 head as it's better flowed and gives higher compression.

I would love to do the 1.4 hybrid but it would cost me ?200ish to get all the bits for it.

lol. Ive got both the engines required for he 1.4 hybrid but i would need to get the 1.3 block rebored, the 1.2 pistons put ont he 1.3 rods (which when i was looking into it before places wouldnt do it saying they would explode) then need new bearings and gaskets.
