Hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm........................

Interesting............. "Favourite" isn't always "Best", if you know what I mean.

Best nova IMHO HAS to be Brett warburtons peppermint(Now owned by Matt off this site), purely because of the attention to detail on the car, ground -up full restoration, respray, custom parts and paintjob with no expense spared. It is an absolute credit to Fearless who built it, and to Brett for having the balls and the idea's to do it.

BUT i like other ones better! Paradoxically, I actually prefer the same car in it's previous incarnation LOL!

'Best' Could mean anything. i.e. Best preped 1/4mile car would not be the fastest and therefore best in other peoples eyes. The 'fastest' track car which I would consider 'best' would not be considered 'best' by someone who is looking at how well the car has been preped. etc etc.

So I think this is the best Nova

i think we should have peoples opinions on what they think is the best nova out there for track/ looks/ 1/4mile / cleanliness etc etc.

define "best" ?

mods? money spent? functionality? purpose?

IMHO, i would say:

Best track: Dan
Looks: Keiths NDZ
1/4: mmmm Nova Chris maybe?
Cleanliness: Keiths mates Nova

Best proven track car would be Dans or Dar's

Suppose its the best of small and big blocks.

Matts "should" be quite capable of competeting for the top title.

Keiths NDZ was stunning all round.

Even I was quicker than Nova-Chris on the 1/4 although plenty of people run into the 12''s or better now. Maybe if Chris laid off all the pies he would stand a chance of beating my time ;)

And ive lost weight you f uck! lol!!!! how dare you!

Thanks for the votes peeps. I shall do a update soon as some more funky bits that have been added.

Anyhow best nova. Hmmm Dont think there is one. Theres quite a good mixture out there for looks / styling / performance / general use ect.

Perhaps a few suggestions

Cps (purely just to the looks / engine / and oldskool)
Rick Raper ( Everything suits this car. Top notch work )
Joffs ( Stunning build and different.)
Dans (old skool 1.6 and the conversion time and cost. awesome really)
ians (just diffferent really. awesome peice of kit)
Dars (id go along with this purely as works been done himself and car is proven to be quick. top effort lad)
Dan whatever is name is with the white nova turbo (another well built car)
BIG RUSS -( is old revver was just amazing. several laps of landow in this and really shows what can be done with a nova. top notch would put alot of bigger engine cars to shame )

Theres many to list really. many stunning examples in there own right .
i wouldnt be drawn on saying who's is the best. has i dont think there is one.
But the scene is getting stronger again after a few years of the pikey invasion! :)

Mark Beesons could potentially be one of the best show type Novas & track cars. (Quick ring time)

Karl Rowntree's was an absolute stunner in many ways, (couple yrs ago) now track car.

Brett Warburtons SRi (in breeze Blue guise) was possibly one of my favourites. So highly modded yet easily over looked.

I agree Mark Beesons is one of the best all rounders and its also been on the scene a long time.

Chris S's car was one of the best up the 1/4 considering he ran the time he did without nitrous.

Best trackcar - Mine, if I thought it could be better I would've built it different :wtf:
Best looks - Brett's old one (peppermint green jobbie)
Best qtr - The old ATC nova (now broken)

Chris S's car was one of the best up the 1/4 considering he ran the time he did without nitrous.

Turbo Gav also ran a 12.3 off gas in his nova, 11.9 on the gas.

ATC Nova was awesome but a set of tyres like that on most things will see huge improvements on times.

Martin Kelsons was the black one wasn't it ? fookin lovely imo, I do like mint black cars even if they are a complete pain in the **** to keep clean lol

Lee H's 1.6 xe is stunning, all the right bits bolted to a shabby looking old shell makes it one of the best cars. Plus he managed to beat my time round the ring on a base map lol

As mentioned there are so many cars up and coming now, not really too bothered who's is best, just good to see some seriously built cars, and to see them being used properly more than anything.

and i say looks! standard gsis are by no means fast. the only thing thats better is a gte. actualy if this was lowerd an extra 40 mm it would be perfect
but thats my oppinion.

you cant get it mate the letter at the start off the number plate is higher than the letter that starts your reg so you cant ie my nova is a f reg i can only have up to the letter f in front of the other letters. but keep tryin to get a scimilar plate mate

As has been mentioned, its difficult to say who has the 'best' nova in terms of a track car, however Im afraid I tend to have more respect for them as I do show cars, as most of the time, the owner hasnt done 100% of the work.

The Novas Ive always looked up to in respect of track cars have been Brummie Chris',Dan's, Lee He****y's, Oli's, and Dar's. These are the cars that convinced me to turn the blue one into a track car after leaving the VW scene having decided I wasnt going to bother building track cars anymore lol. All these guys have built the car that they wanted from scratch with no external help (apart from helping hands) to the spec that they wanted to achieve. Therefore, you cant sit here and say one is best, as theyre built around the driver, and driving styles differ.

However I will always have a soft spot for Dars car for many reasons. For one, its a big block track car that has been proven and hopefully changed a lot of minds in respect to 'big blocks are useless on track', and also, if it wasnt for him and his car, I wouldnt have learned what I have and, in turn, built the Nova Ive always wanted using his as a basic blueprint (look at our shells and youll see a lot of similaritys). In fact TBH, if Dar wasnt about, I would probably still be using the blue one on the road as the motivation of trying to keep up with the bastid has kept me going (and annihilated my wallet lol)

As for 1/4 mile, I know its not a Nova, but Phil Suttons corsa is a force to be rekoned with, I can see that car just getting quicker and quicker!

Show Novas... I have top respect for Keith as his style of modding has always been 'less is more' which I totally relate to from my VW days. Not only can he find these mint cars to start with, he knows how to make them better without ruining them, which TBH, is not easy.

Jack
05-05-07, 10:13 AM
I'd say on track Dar's car gets my vote, but thats partly due to the owner being a good driver. Also rate Dan and Oli's cars but not seen enough of them tbh.

As for looks and cleanliness, its gotta be Nick Caro's and Keith's old blue one.

Fastest street legal nova is my mates.

11.9 on 888,s

one engine and half the hp of the boost beast

No doubt people will now except that a diffed phase 3 + nitrous LET engine in a nova is capable of those times, if not better if using better tyres or more nitrous.

Not very hard for anyone to do if they actually make the effort.

Best looks - I've too many, but i'll list a few: K95 VHD, Martin Kelsons Nova, Martin Weavers SRI (soon to be LET'd) A 16V TB.

Track car has to be, Lee H's, and Dar's following close second.
