haha yea, made me laugh aswell, was funny watching novas at santpod trying to warm there "tyre" up before the race by wheel spinning!

thunderpants

its not that i go out and wheelspin on purpose, that gets you nowhere, its just when you pull away in fast fwd car it sometimes loses traction for a while until the tyre warms up

my car is hopeless, you have to pull away from junctions like an old granny or it will wheel spin on its own accord!

Stuart
02-05-07, 03:06 PM
lmfao..... even with "warm" tyres (incidentaly what tyres are you running?) you will still spin one up.... :wall:

i have a nova gsi with a astra gte engine, custom inlet, forged pistons, ARP rod bolts, LET lifters, Magnex full exhaust

bought the engine already like that, and my uncle helped fit it

Stuart

the LET lifters add about 50lbft of torque ;)

thunderpants

i should have it RR'd, its certainly shocks scoobys and BMW's

you mean xe lifters lol, Get a lsd then you can wheel spin the **** out of both wheels. Also i dare you to weld the diff up on a fwd car lol

Also something i find very amusing is when people do a "burnout" at pod and only one wheel is spinning, they then proceed to launch off the line an spin the sh*t out of the other wheel an thus defeating the object of cleaning the tyres.

what would a welded up front diff be like then ??

Jack
02-05-07, 06:21 PM
No diff = wheels can't move independently

So... when you come to a corner, instead of the inside wheel slowing down and the outside wheel speeding up, both will stay at a constant speed. Which will probably result in the car headbutting whatever is on the outside of the corner lol

Pretty much as above/\ LOL
Would work well in america.

Saw a guy in a starlet messing about, turns out he had a 15inch alloy on the drivers side and a 13 inch on the passenger and doing wheelspins and it just warmed up the passenger tyre........................the head gasket went a short time later!lol

I know what u mean when u say u have to pull away like a granny. When i put the power down on a bumpy road no matter how hard I grip the wheel it decides where i go not me :( .

So don't be a fool, change gears early so u don't look like a tool :thumb:

I wouldnt moan about "lack" of traction unless your spinning like this lol

A fully locked diff on a rwd car is do able, alot of race cars have them. Mate had an almost fully locked diff an straight cut box on his mini and even though it was only a 1300 it used to bounce from curb to curb and ripped it all over the shop. lol

letting a little bit of air out of the tyres which have the power improves your 1/4 mile time, can usually take off up to half a sec as you get better traction from the start.

if you look at drag cars there tyres flex behind the car moves
