well i was bleeding my brakes on my nova tonight and realised a wet patch on the floor under the car, so i went under and found out it was brake fluid leaking. I found where it is coming from (between the master cylinder and the servo).
my brother ripped it out when we were welding it and i presume its went back together ok. the pedal works (and its starting to get a hard pedal).
can you buy gaskets for between these or will i slap some instant gasket on it?
also is there any bits missing between the master cylinder and the sevo? i noticed there was a small rod in the servo, does it look to be in the right position.
Any ideas?
also, the pics are not the best but you get the idea and this where i am trying to show you where it is leaking.

Looks like your missing the internal rod bit thingy lol, if so then when youve pressed the pedal its just blown the seal on the back. Time to get another one. I know enough people that have done this when moving it for welding.

the rod is still in the servo. also the servo is full of brake fluid (which i am lead to believe thats not supposed to be).

is the rod meant to be in the servo or should it come out with the master cylinder?

my brother also tried ripping the servo off (took the 4 bolts off the back) but it was on a linkage and he couldnt yank it off so ended up just leaving it hanging.

will this of damaged it?

i am really pissed of with my brakes now. took me long enough and a bit of trouble doing the brake lines etc and new stuff (lost the spring that holds the rear shoes in place:mad: ). now its the servo thats holding the job up. i was hoping to go and give it a good blast tonight but looks like thats not going to happen for a while.

as phil said, it looks like the seal has blown on the master cylinder. needs a new one mate

how much is a new servo? is it just the servo i need?

also how do i take the servo off? i know about the 4 bolts but i am sure there is a linkage that holds it on?

you will need both a masterclyinder and servo wont take long for the preakfluid to damage the servo seals.

just go get a servo/MC setup from a nova in a scrappy

yep, i am needing another nova anyway. A gte/gsi though. just need the engine out of it so while i am at it i will take the servo etc off.

how does the servo come off the car?

4 bolts in the engine bay, and I think you remove it from the transfer bar from inside the passenger footwell.

There is a clevis pin to release the servo from the pedal/bar assembly behind the dash.

There was a GTE servo & MC For Sale on here yesterday.

clevis

Love that word... right up there with flange!

so if i get a master cylinder and servo from a scrap nova, will i buy a gasket kit for it?

can you get these? or is there anyway i can keep my own master cylinder/servo but re-build it if possible? can you get gasket sets for this?

Cheers

easier to get a Mc and servo from a scrappy. refurbing MC's is a pig

so if i get one from a scrappy will i not need some new gaskets or anything?

Shouldn't do, unless its knackered.
