View Full Version : Do you tell people everything about your car...?

I've been stopped and approached many times about my Nova but sometimes feel a bit reluctant to give all the details to certain types of people.
There are usually two types:
1) People genuinely interested and compliment the look of the car and quality of the finish.
2) Young lads who do immediately ask what the engine size is.
I would be interested to know others views on this. Should I reveal all or hold back on certain bits of info like engine modifications to the boy racers?
I feel like they are just asking to find out if its fast enough to be worth breaking into and stealing!!
Cheers
yeh tbh people with novas etc that i speak to and they ask i'll tell them, randoms... i just say its nothing special just a 1.4 (it is but i dont tell them bout mods to it)

Never need to tell anyone about my car really. Normally as its broke down. So they only need to know where the towing point is.

people ask me 'what you got in that then fella?'
i always tell them 'two buckets and a cage' lol
First thing most people ask is "what power is that putting out" lol
Had a car chat with Good Cop today when they were doing vehicle checks on the air station (which I always seem to get collared for, probably because they hear me coming down the road lmfao), who was quite into Jap cars. Usually they comment on the cleanliness of the car and the lack of room under the bonnet.

Yes this is the sort of thing... I mean... I like people who want to talk about the car and who appriciate a good nova. Last time some boy racers asked about it I just said it was modified and wouldn't tell them what engine. Afterwards I felt a bit lame but it gets on my nerves because they probably just want a race!!

tell them the truth, if you have nothing to hide dont worry
what engine you got in it?
2L16v mate
it says 1L on the log book, your nicked sonny jim!
lol
It's more a case of thieving scum being tempted knowing it's something special or tuned.
It seems to me that one day soon, telling someone you don't have an xe in it will be novel!!
I don't get asked, as I drive around in mine as if it's a 1 litre, and that suits me fine. Prefer to use it when I need too. + if I drove it as it should be driven, it wouldn't last more than a few days before going missing around here.

I'm honest and tell 'em that its just a 1.6, boy racers don't understand the concept of power to weight anyway lol

but phil lives in evo land theres one every 10 seconds down the road, dont know why, theres 100billion speed cameras lol
I always say its standard and rotten as one of those is true lol especially if they say they've seen it about. I'll always have a bit of time for people who show a bit of interest and say something which shows they aren't with the 'my mate/uncle/other relation's got a 400bhp nova' brigade though, especially older blokes who aren't on the rob.
