funny thing is, the fuelpump was broken before it was stolen. when i found out that it was gone the first thing that hit my mind was "how did they stole it?" when i got it back, the old fuel pump was replaced by a second hand one. thnx mr thief! lol

Look what the mailman brought me:
http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/SP_A0640.jpg
complete C20XE but with a C20LET head gasket.

http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/SP_A0634.jpg
yesterday i bought a brand new, unpainted GSI bumper. the guy i bought it from paid 335 euro's at the dealer . lets just say i paid lots less :thumb:

http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/SP_A0636.jpg
this morning I installed my central door locking, with VW/Audi style key's

inspected the overall state of the car, its quite rusted underneath. will get some pictures up later the day. gotta get some assembly lube (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101652) first . . .

its quite rotten underneath. besides the rear arches, we have the following:
http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/SP_A0642.jpg
this is in the front right arch. do-able? might have to cut this section from my almost dead nova from '85

http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/SP_A0643.jpg
the front, big holes there aswell . . . these are basicly the only major rotten parts on the nova. august will be a bussy month :D

Finaly, found "ron's racing engines". he was willing to sell me a sweet bottle of assembly lube. nice guy, costed me 3 pounds :thumb:
http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/lube.jpg

basicly i have 4 piston rod bearings looking like this. It didnt damaged the crankshaft at all. did some measurements on the crankshaft, and its still within GM specifications.
http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/piston.jpg

The head, a KS700 I believe. the water pipe . . . looking sorry for itself. anyone ever changed these?
http://www.corsamania.nl/project_stealth/head.jpg

also the mailman delivered me a new lower frontend with crossmember. ready to be welded in. next on my list, buying a MIG welder . . .

Bought a new oilpump as the old one was "kapot". dunno exactly from which GM engine it originally is but it got recommended by the guy from duparts.nl (which got advice from corsa-novatuning.nl) lol

GM#24402722
http://www.bennobark.nl/backup/Old_Website_2010/images/New_pump.jpg

As you can see its diffrent then the old one but the additional oil sucking pipe thing (GM#90500410) made it fit perfect
http://www.bennobark.nl/backup/Old_Website_2010/images/Oil_Pumps_diff.jpg

All fitted:
http://www.bennobark.nl/backup/Old_Website_2010/images/New_pump_fitted.jpg
the oil pickup pipe is much thicker. anyone idea on which engine it normally should be fitted?

that looks like a z20let pump from the mk4 astra gsi. What is the pickup pipe from? the same engine? i didnt think the z20let pick up pipe would fit, there is people that make custom ones. Does it clear the sump ok?

Bought a new oilpump as the old one was "kapot".
Kapot (Dutch) = broken, knackered, fooked, buggered... lots of fine English words to describe something no longer functions as intended. ;)

Afternoon fellow cloggie, good to see the Dutch have discovered Nova's as well (as if they hadn't already). Looks like you have a nice little project on your hands here. :thumb:

Make sure the oil supply works as it should. Well worth figuring this out properly as I once discovered whilst giving it some wellie round Silverstone. :wtf:

Cheers,
Niek (from Lelystad, Metropolis of the Reclaimed Land)

only the right headlight area is a lil rotten.
http://www.bennobark.nl/photogallery/PNG_02.jpg

had to stop due to heavy rain, ended up with only the sides removed.
http://www.bennobark.nl/photogallery/PNG_10.jpg

Had some spare time yesterday.
Grinded of the middle section of the crossmember for better access to the sides
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG00100-20100729-1906.jpg

It took alot of whacking/grinding to get one side done. the corners are a shait job to do.
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG00105-20100729-2024.jpg

next monday its time for the other side which needs to be completly rebuild anyway lol

Well, the nova was in hibernation mode for more then a year.... the lady got quite anoyed by it so it was either scraping it or finish the project.
so, arches, crispy like a dutch biscuit.
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Corsa-A_Wielkast02.jpg

Removed 50% of the spotwelds as the other 50% had rotten away.
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Corsa-A_Wielkast03.jpg

chop chop
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Corsa-A_Wielkast05.jpg

Reconstructed frontside of the arch.
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Corsa-A_Wielkast15.jpg

Old and new.
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Corsa-A_Wielkast11.jpg

Backside of the arch had rotten aswell. Had to cut away some amount of rust.
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Corsa-A_Wielkast14.jpg

Patched it up and attached it to the outer shell. Welding inside an arch is horrible....
http://bennobark.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Corsa-A_Wielkast18.jpg

Thats it for now, left the nova in this condition till next weekend.

Wow, good on you for taking this on again. Don't let any woman tell you to scrap it. Having the same arguments over and over again here. Must be a female thing. Anyways good luck restoring your Nova. :-)

Women... anyway i'm now just puzzled about the LET oilpump. it fits straight on but it seems the black plate that you mount over the pump which protets the timingbelt doesnt fit properly. its gonna be a hole in the backplate or grinding some off the oil pump. anyone had this issue before?
