2.0 Gearbox Fouling Etc

About to drop a 2.0i 8v Cavalier CD engine into my '89 1.2 Nova. Driveshafts are on their way. The questions I have are:
How do I stop the gearbox hitting the lower suspension arm? My mates already knackered the gearbox on my 1.8i (Astra CD) engine by cutting too much off it! Colin Smith said about making spacer blocks, anyone done this? Also, any suggestions for exhausts (I've kepth both original 1.8 and 2.0 systems with a view to 'making' one) and radiators? I rang one company (PVD) who told me to use the original 1.2 rad! Surely not?!! :-/

Use the 1.2 rad (or fet a 1.5 TD one).

The spacer blocks are to lower the tie bar and front anti roll bar:

But you can cut a bit of it off aswell.
