Popping..?

See if i had to take the cat out my Nova but leave the rest of the exhaust system standard...

...Would the car pop when it was quite warm???

all the little pops is bits of unburnt fuel and the heat of te exhaust helps it pop lolb so to speak

Dont think it will.

My spi used to pop like mad, but that was with a 2" bore system, 4-1, different cam etc. Altho it shouldn't pop at all, as fuel is cut on overun.

if you want the car to pop put some sorst wrap on it, the warmer the better lol, but then it will probably glow from time to time

Popping means its running bad,Lol.
As its overfueling.

Altho a carb'd engine would probably do it anyway, as the engine pulls fuel in even on overun(when its using no fuel)
Altho my t40'd motor has never done it.

my old spi popped and banged alot. especially when letting off the throttle.

it had a straight through exhaust onto a stainless steel powerlfow back box. what a noise came out of it!:D

My Carb 1.2 pops all the time since I put the back box on from my GTE.. fuel consumption seems fine though.. bit bloody annoying if you ask me.

lol it's ok from a meaty car but sounds a bit pants from a chuggy little run around.

I was driving home the other night and there was a 240 sx tucked infront of a lorry... just about got level and his did it.. I ****ing **** my pants it was so loud.

my 1.2 carb did it untill i got the carb set up correctly, i have a sportex baxkbox on it

my 1.4sr pops like mad, especially when coasting in gear with the clutch up, it pops and barbles! if you rev the engine then switch the ignition off and on mine bangs and shoots flames,, rather impressive! im running a cherry bomb backbox!

when i had my old one, i bought it with a straight through system with a cherry bomb on the end already fitted, with the 1.2 engine it was fine, then i did a 1.4 engine conversion with added bits and it would pop loads with the accelerator lifted and gear engaged, also when flooring it lol oh not forgetting the flames either lol

think the 1.4 manifolds make it a lot better than the 1.2! and it dosent **** your engine or exhaust!
