2.0 8v in the white one hs exhaust was blowing pretty bad though

Is your full ashley system downpipe back(i.e. no cat)

It shows how a 1400 8v mpi engine is a wiser choice than 1600 8v, few mods puts it right up the 1600 power.

Novalad-55bhp if a carb engine(probably more like 50ish now tho)
