ICQ (i seek you) used to be "THE" messaging system to use... very popular in the mid-late 90's.

ICQ basically invented instant messaging as it is known today... Nothing quite like ICQ had been done before ICQ came along... you may argue other software does it better, which may be true, but they can't say they did it first :D

It works in much the same way as MSN does, which is now the standard messaging system since it is 1. good and 2. bundled with windows.

ICQ always has allowed you to send messages through it while your contact is offline though, so they can pick it up and reply when they come back online - not like msn where you have to wait for them to be online... or send them an email.

I don't think MSN Messenger is good. For starters the official client is quite possibly one of my most hated Windows applications, how anybody uses it is beyond me.

Yes but I do not use the official Microsoft client. I only use the MSN protocol as so many of my friends use it. Oh, and you. :p

i wouldn't know, i haven't used it for a few years properly.

I think they have recently implemented the ability to queue messages for when a user signs in.

Yep .. sometiems if you miss a message when you sign out ... it will be there for you when you sign in .. with the date it was sent etc...

That takes me back a few years. I haven't used it since I was about 16. Used to use it a lot in my GP2 editing days, but haven't really used it since the game died. Assumed ICQ died when messanger became popular.
