Anyone remember the old TANGO adverts ... where the guy would go around giving people a good slap and saying "you've been tango'd" lol they then stopped making them adverts because they got banend as kids where going around slapping people saying the phrase lol ..

My loft is mostly filled with vauxhall nova at the moment, all the bits that would fit through the hatch anyway.

Turtles were great, now they've gone and ruined it by making a CGI movie... and also, they're supposed to be Teenaged Mutant HERO Turtles. Heroes In a Half Shell. Turtle Power. etc.

Rebranding it as Ninja turtles tries to toughen it up, and its made it poo.

The Turtles were always Ninja Turtles in US/Japan afaik, its only here they were Hero Turtles... I have a feeling it was something to do with them thinking "ninja" promoted violence or something?!

"Hero" Turtles

Upon TMNT's first arrival in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and Germany, the name was changed to "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" (or TMHT, for short), since local censorship policies deemed the word ninja to have excessively violent connotations for a children's program. Consequently, everything related to the Turtles had to be renamed before being released in the UK. The lyrics were also changed, such as changing "Splinter taught them to be ninja teens" to the ironically more violent "Splinter taught them to be fighting teens."

The policies also had other effects, such as removing Michelangelo's nunchaku (which were at the time banned from appearing in even 18-rated movies) and generally toning down the usage of all the turtles' weapons. After many seasons of never using his nunchaku, they eventually disappeared entirely, replaced by a turtle shell shaped grappling hook called the "Turtle Line".

By the time of the 2003 TV series, these censorship policies had been abolished, and no changes have occurred in the content of the show. The name "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" remained unchanged for the 2003 show. As a result, in the UK, the 1987 program is still called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and the 2003 program is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In the new TMNT film, Michaelangelo has nunchakus, but because of UK censorship laws, never actually uses them.

Absolutely. I have still got my Metroplex (Xmas 1988) and other figures. I also have the 'Arrival from Cybertron' VHS (x2) explaining why the toys transform from sophisticated robots into 35mm cameras and cassette players. I also have 2 original copies of Transformers the movie (the 90 minute advert for the new toy range) and a whole bunch of other VHS transformers. Why one didn't actually turn into an actual transformer is beyond me though.
