I'm a big fan of the LET, but i can't see why anyone would want to run one over a Cossie motor, especially in a 3 door Sierra !!

As above.
A lot more development has gone into cossie engines, and a lot more poeple running big power from them.

not everyone wants run high bhp. 200 is plenty and a safe 280-300 is also good!

That's taking the ****ing piss. Apart from my Nova Sport my other car is an Escort Cossie and I wouldn't transplant a Vaux engine into it for love nor money! I'd sooner let it rot.

thats if its real

Possibly for reliability over a cossie lump lol lol

That's what i was thinking, either that or he bought it without an engine..

It will more than likely be a replica, with a let chucked in

I'd envisage some sort of homosexualness is required to put a LET into a cossie.....

Love it!!
The LET is a more modern engine than the cossie lump. After all the YB is just a 16v Pinto. The YB lump does sport some steel internals. I also can't see the point. However it is amusing. I've seen XE's & Let's in lots of cars, but I didn't think I would ever see one in a Cossie.

I can't think of a better idea to make the Ford purests spit teeth! Although in my experiance the Ford boys and girls are amongst the best people to talk 'cars' with.

Love it! Just for abnormality & talking point.

YBs arent all they are cracked up to be. Just the chips have been readily available since the year dot.

is it just me or does the engine seem to sit really far back in the bay ??

Big_Chap

ok, here's some background.
the car belongs to a friend. he bought it as you see it. the car wasn't a cossie to begin with and infact was a 1.6 iirc but everything about it is genuine cosworth spec from the kit to the interior, the brakes to the rear end. i don't know exactly why the guy decided to build it but i do know that he only put the vauxhall engine in to be different, if he put the yb in then it would just be another 3dr cossie rep and there was a fair wee bit of work in it too, not exactly a bolt for bolt conversion, yb would have been the easy option. he's doing something similar with a mk2 esc.
the owner has no real plans to change it except to enlarge the boost hoses as they are a little restrictive and was talking about a set of comp. mo's but not sure if he still wants them. it was in at wallace performance last week for an evo chip upgrade but didn't fit it because he needs an uprated fuel pressure regulator. the guys tweaked it for stanard running and he's that happy with how it goes now might not even bother with the chip. can't stress enough how nice this car is, no a fault anywhere! if you didn't know better, you'd think it was completly standard!
for all the haters, can't really see how its de-valued/wrecked a good car. he would have paid 2or 3 times the price for a "proper" one and it goes just as well as one!

That's taking the ****ing piss.

whats the matter with you? don't get upset about it:cry: , its not like he did it to your cossie! lol

Im a big cossie fan and i cant see why the owner has went to so much bother to chuck in a LET, when, at the end of the day, he is just getting similar power to the standard YB, without the potential for big power.

Even if it is just a replica, it would have been much better with either the standard engine or one out of an escort cossie.

theres loads of old fords with XE's and LET's in them, there easier to find

you ever tried to buy an escort cosworth engine? ever seen one in a scrappers? the word "hens" & "teeth" spring to mind.

and as i said before, its all about being different :thumb:

I like that, not so much for the 'different' factor, but more for the guys balls and willingness to do it, and blatantly not care what the anal purists think.

Ive got a similar plan which im hoping will really p1ss off the VW boys in a year or so lol.

bang on car, its been said, a lot of the rally boys stick the vauxhall engines in as they are cheap and theres plenty about.
Besides he could have just left the 1600 x flow in it which would have just been a good looking car that went like a fart.

Ive had a look and its abit funny if its real then well done but the ford boys get really touchy about there ford especially when theres vauxhall stuff with it, the picture of the engine bag does look sus, the air filter pipe is going straight into the block not to the turbo, the dip stick looks drawn on, i cant see the second cam pulley only 1 ?

the air filter pipe bend downward to the turbo, you can only see the inlet pulley from this angle as the exhaust on is covered by the dist bracket and cambelt, the ancillary belt is bolted to the end of the exhaust cam pulley. :thumb:

anymore questions? lol

Why does the rocker cover sit in the bulkhead/firewall then, if its not a shop then its mounted directly to the shell lol, its a good shop but once you go back and look you can see it is!!!

do a search for cossies, thats how they sit. the closer the is to the middle, the better the centre of gavity, which means well a balanced car and good handling !

excellent, bet there are people out there almost crying. Reminds me of this one lmfao. Should have been the other way round, i.e diesel in a mint cav turbo 4x4 lol

That air filter pipe must have some bend on it especially a pipe that big, the inlet cam pulley is massive nearly the full size of the rocker cover, the power steering bottle?
