View Full Version : Possible silly question (Dial Needle)

If I wanted to change a needle on one of my dials, then how would I be able to remove the needle and make sure the pin in which the needle fits onto doesn't move out of position therefore messing up the dial making it inaccurate.

I did this once and the whole dial went off the scale took me ages to get it back to its normal position for it to read correctly.

Maybe its late in the day to think about, but Im all out of ideas :tard:

Pull out the "stopper" and stick masking tape on the face of the dial. Let the needle come to rest and mark where it rests on the masking tape...

To change the needle use 2 spoons, one either side and gently lever it up..

I'll give an example maybe that will help coz its kinda tricky to explain.

I recently broke my fuel guage needle. I had a spare needle off an old clock, so I whipped off the broken needle. Now I didnt realise that when the needle comes off the little pin in which the needle clips onto moves out of position. When I put the replacement needle back, its off position was at half full rather then empty.

So im trying to think of a way to be able to pull off a neelde without disturbing the pin underneath so when put back its where it should be.

it can be unbolted an removed

Yeh I know but dont have spare fuel guage. Plus just gettin some info if I wanted to change the dial faces the needles would also have to come off.
