I need to change the speakers in my dash in my mk2, are they just 10cm components that i need, and can anyone recommend any decent sets that are available? Cheers

Not sure if they are 10cm but they are quite small because i ripped the cover off mine yesterday and had a look ... Took me about 10 mins to get it on again lol ..

Yes, they're 10cm single cone ones as standard, you'll be able to fit 10cm coaxials in the existing apertures easily. I had a set of Alpine 10cm coaxials in my dash for a couple of years. Obviously they won't give you much bass because of the size of them, but they did sound really clear, which is more important to me anyway. Since upgraded them to 17cm Alpine components in the kick panels, but I'm still using the tweeters in the factory position as it's ideal! :)

Think they are what I have in my dash although its a MK1 dash. 10cm 2 ways.

No point trying to put something that will try play bass coz thats the job of the bigger components or the sub. Hook it up to a crossover so you get the higher frequencies only.

MK2 Dash speakers have some funny mount on them that kinda screws into the dash, i think there about 10cm but don't think std (with a mounting hole in each corner) speakers will fit.

True, I had to cut away part of the dash (the cardboardy stuff) to make my 10cm Pioneer speakers fit.

Diamond audio D3's come in 4" (10cm) - ?100 iirc and sound ace for the money as long as you mount them right.

8cm or 8.5cm will fit, no mods.. and easier to screw/bolt in..
10cm with modification will squeeze in; but its hassle.. and wont bolt in as well,.. thus sounding tinnier..
Try JBL GTO326, theyre 8 or 8.5cm so go straight in; sound tinny (all small speakers will) but for under ?40, can handle bit of volume, not bad..
