In no real order and by no means a comprehensive list. But this is what I reckon you should start with. The first three really go without saying, but I put them in just in-case.
Decent suspension
Decent breaks
Decent tyres
Strengthen the engine bay even if your not putting in a bigger engine
Put a cage in
Poly or Nylon bush the car
Bucket seats, Side mount ones if possible

sweet thanks dar, wat cage wud ya recomend ? cos im lookin at saftey devices atm?
Fabricage (http://www.fabricage.co.uk/) make a very nice cage.
Erm i'd start by reversing everything you've done so far...
And then Doing what Dar said ^

how easy were the mirrors to paint
and what process did u go through??
cars looking smart :)
Is it safe to use harnesses with standard seats?
Is it safe to use standard seats with harnesses?
yeah course it is, cant see why it wouldnt be tbh
I was just thinking the harnesses would pull down on the seat in the case of an accident (due to the angle of the rear straps) and the seat backrest would not be up to the pressure and fold down.
If you get me...
the rear straps arent supposed to be straight down with buckets either iirc, it doesnt matter what seats you have its how you mount the harnesses that save/kill you
edit - actually looked at the pics - they should be fine
