View Full Version : URGENT - Air Filter!!! HELP ME!!!

Right, is it possible to run the car withouth the air filter and airbox on there at all...
My airbox has the valve thing open all the time from the manifold so is taking in loads of hot air and its that that is making my car cut out i think.
The valve is rusted so wont move so i am gonna have to get a new airbox... but until then, could i run the car with no airbox on it? its doing my head in gutting out all the time.

it will run without a box but i don't think this will be the problem

16v Nova - Toolkit, Trouble, Points and great expence all come as standard :)

what else could it be?
it runs for a while and then just cuts out... start it back up again and its ok for about a mile.
if you coast it, then drive, then coast etc etc it lasts longer before it cuts out.
fuel pump is working right... what else could it be?

carb shouldnt freeze if its getting a very hot supply of air from the manifold.

could be anything, what have u tried?

Tried changing dizzy and coil in case it was something like that.. nope!
Tried taking pipe off back of airbox and blowing through it, loads of shit came out but still just as bad...
Dont really know what else to try.
