Don't know if it's a common thing or unique to my Nova, but when I did the exact same and stuck a little Pipercross on the end of it I got some serious fumes coming into the cabin. The pipe comes from the oil seperator, it's basically a really primitive emissions control system that feeds the oil fumes into the carburettor and burns them in the engine. Without it going into the airbox, the fumes ended up in the car. I got around it just by drilling a hole the right size to accept the hose in my K+N baseplate, so it pipes the fumes into the carb as designed...

lol if you actually read the instructions for a new k&n it does actually say like above that you should drill the bottom of the k&n and feed the hose into it :thumb:

or you could point the pipe to the ground and let the fumes escape under the car lol

/\ But that leaves emulsified oil dripping everywhere, and breathing combustion and burning oil fumes cant be too good,Lol.

the instructions does say to either drill a hole in it or get a plate with a pipe attachment on it lol

you could get a longer pipe and feed it to the outside world lol

Can't say I find it any more of a problem than it was with the standard airbox - I have to clean out the breather hose and part of the K+N baseplate whenever I service the car, but I'd already have the air filter off in that case anyway so it's no hardship...
