how easy is it to swap carb ?

ive been offered a carb for my 1400sr,been told i need to change the manifold and throttle cable for it to fit,just wanting to know whats involved inm doing this and will a novice like me be able to do it ?

Depends largely on which carb you want to fit. A weber 32/34 will fit your current inlet with an adapter plate, but you'd do better fitting a 1300 head and inlet manifold (with the 1400 cam) if that's the case.
