Will soon be facing this task so thought I'd ask in advance. I have a GTE engine with all engine loom and have put a 1.2 carb car loom in (behind the dash). I assume most plugs for sensors will attach to the engine from the car loom, so what else will I need to connect/join to get it running?

Sorry for the vague question, thanks in advance

The engine loom has a small plug that clips by the wiper motor(as std)
It has
Red-12v-Straight to batt.
Black-Ign 12v-Ign barrel, or ign live in fusebox
Blue-Coolant guage-join to blue on dash loom
Green-Tacho-as above but green
Red/Blue-Fuel pump-You will have to run a wire to the pump if using a carb loom
Brown/white-Ecu light iirc-To brown/blue on dash

The starter/charging/oil pressure etc wires should be on your carb loom.
The plug on the engine loom you will have cut off and wire the ends of the wires to the car, as you dont have the other half of the plug...

He wont have that plug up at the wiper motor area however.

Its only 7 wires on the plug. All the eng sensors etc are self contained in the engines EFI loom. Just power it up & away you go, assuming you have a fuel pump, w'relay & return fuel lines etc.

Yes so I need to rewire those 7 wires (listed by Ad) in to the car loom oui? I'm using an SPI tank with in-tank MPI pump so should be ok there, although been told I'll probably need a different radiator *grumbles*

Yeah/\

Ive just had a quick look at my 1600 bottom hose and rad, and i "think" the rad outlet is the same size on all rads.
Its the end that fits the plastic coolant pipe thats larger...

If thats the case then you'll need the bottom hose to the 1600, but can keep your rad...
Measure the bottom rad outlet on your 1200 rad and i'll compare it to the gte one i have.

The outlet at the bottom of my rad (from the 1.4SPI) is roughly 3.3cm.

you can use your rad and bottom hose but a gsi hose is beta cus the standard one is to long because of the postion the plastic hose comes out but u can still use it

A spi hose DOES not fit the gte plastic coolant tube /\

Lame. I'll look for a new bottom hose too then!

I spent nearly an hour trying to get my spi bottom hose to fit a gte coolant tube,Lol.
Tried filing the tube etc, heating the pipe.

Just wouldn't go.

i though the brown an white wire went to the brown an white wire in the loom (the ECU light in binnalce?)
