Hi all,
Just thought I'd share the experience of last weekend. Borrowed a BMW M5 last weekend off a mate who runs a garage (for the wifes birthday - honest!).
On the way back to my house thought I'd give it some beans - into sport mode and WWWWAAAAAARRRRPPPPPP speed !!! On a bit of dual carriage way I was up to 140 mph before I knew where I was - that was in 4th and I still had 2 gears left and was still pulling hard!!!!
The acceleration on these machines is awsome - 5.0 L V8 with about 400 bhp is real fun - you just blast past stuff on the road without any real effort. All very civilised but gets very quick very fast !
One down side - I did 300 miles and it cost ?70 in fuel  - not so good when you're used to a LPG Vectra lol

Awesome cars, was it the new shape M5? Think they are 400 without and 500 with the sport button.
Keith
Old shape, V8
New one has a V10
Mc has(had) a 2000 shape M5... that was just mind blowingly fast, and the brakes were just as impressive as the acceleration lol
did the indicators work ??
did the indicators work ??
lmao.
i haven't been out in a e60 m5 yet but i've been out in a z3m coupe a m3 convertable and my favourite a m3 csl, which is just brilliant.
A friends dad has an Alpina B7 which I am yet to blag a lift in. He reckons it feels like someones pushing on your chest when it accelerates!
MC's is awesome!
Complete with the pram in the boot! lol
his latest car is a tad ammusing though.....think Gm, think not a vectra, not an omega but one of the bigger recent vauxhalls...

My wife is an accountant for BMW in Rochdale and I've been in a v10 one they're just AWESOMELY fast, as quick as a ferrari 360 modena. My mate owns an old shape one:-

Yep - thats the same model as I had - mine was in a dark metallic blue colour with 18" standard rims (and silly sized tyres - something like a 245/35 x 18) they were skinny.
Top of the range car and I couldn't work out where the clock was lol
I wish I could have one and get all the petrol on expenses through work - however I don't think 40p per mile would still cover the consumption

I've been out in a new M5 and boy is it quick, stupidly quick & its so smooth you dont realise how fast they are. Still prefer a VXR500 though, a bit more raw and different(I see M5's everyday at work)
Hard life driving these Beemers, was at Milbrook the other week ragging the **** off a new 335i round the Alpine circuit(Where they filmed the Aston rolling in Casino Royal) and doing 130mph with the roof down round the bowl:D . Drove some other nice motors like the new X5 4.8is and its rivals.

Wrong! He was definately trying....my patience, wouldn't move out the sodding way
TBH he couldn't drive to save his life, typical 'all the gear and no idea', when I passed him it was on the pit straight and he was booting it :D
Just checked the stats and they weigh 1795kgs!!! No wonder it was like a mobile chicane, maybe he wasn't such a bad driver!
Just messing mate, I raced one round the Hungaroring and he was broadside everywhere ! wasted us but we were in a stock Clio 172.
See you at PV ;)
