this gets me every time!! i have over heard a few people saying am going to set my car up for track use etc etc so i will only lower it by 35 to 40 mm. i find this so wrong as av been and talked to so many people who do track day race etc etc and the cars are really as low as they could go for lower center of gravity and stiff as posible so no roll so why do people say u should only lower it buy 35 40 mm
any one answer me this
thanks
also has any one ever had a euro nova if so how do they handle
Only lower it around 40mm for road use, as if you go any lower the car will then go into the territory of skipping on bumps / potholes / uneven surfaces which, lets face it, 90% of the roads in this country are riddled with. This has a seriously detrimental effect on handling.
On a smooth track surface, yes, lower and stiffer is better, although it doesnt have to be slammed. Me and Dar only run around a 50mm drop, but this is on coilovers and nylon bushes.

I raised exactly the same point a while bk. I agree and as my nova and many others prove, you can go a lot lower than 35-40 and have a great handling nova it just requires a bit more attention to geomety etc :thumb:

so why do it?
Afterall a car is based on how well it drives/performs, or is it based on pleasing others?

i must be very insane but have no choice because i have 308 discs on it and 17s are only wheel that will fit that disc so im told. but lately ive bin told off me mate that 16s speedlines fit. if so ill get a set.
looks FFS can people stop arguing/ripping people to shreds for their personal desires for their car. Its getting VERY tedious. (yes i tear people down on technical inaccuracies but thats a completely different matter)
back to the topic...
Its all about compromise etc, yes you can go V low but as Oli said you need to keep the geometry sorted and that does require a bit of effort on a nova since its not been designed with our use in mind so stuff isnt that adjustable.

As has been said by a few sensible ones before me, there is no 'ideal' suspension setting for any given requirement. IMO its all down to personal preference which this thread shows all to well. After messing around with these things for over ten years now i have probably driven with most of varying ride heights after trying numerous kits/idea's.
I have been happy with them all, as over time my needs have changed and i have progressed and learnt abit more each time about how i like my cars to feel. Now i run mine at quite a low setting as it is really a track car and i have set it up to handle just right with the limited ride height and geometry preferences.
how i have it wouldnt suit other people but saying that stuart always seems to be in a world of his own each time he steals the drivers seat lol lol lol
