Hi guys, i'm wiring in a cd player but not sure about the wires, the car has;
*Thick brown wire
*Black
*Red
*grey/green wire
the pioneer cd player DEH 535R has;
*Thick orange wire with a tag stating battery with a 10a fuse
*Thick black wire
*Blue wire stating system remote control
*Red wire with ACC tag on itwith a 0.5 amp fuse
*yellow wire with ILL
THE SPEAKER WIRES ARE STRAIGHTFORWARD.... help be much appreciated:)
Can't remember how the Nova wires go off the top of my head, as its been about 5 years since I fettled with audio in Novas, but the new HU should be as thus:
*Thick orange wire - to battery
*Thick black wire - to ground
*Blue wire - to accessories (electric aerial etc)
*Red wire - to accessory circuit on ignition (wire to battery if you want it independent of having to turn the ignition on)
*yellow wire - HU illumination, runs off the dashboard light circuit

I thought i didnt need half of them, thanks alot buddy, now i'm half way there, i'm just puzzed as to whats what on the car now,one would have thought that the thick brown wire is the earthing and the red live.
We'll if some has recent fitted a HU i'm sure they can shed some light on the wires?:confused:
brown is neg on vauxhalls iirc
the red and yellow on your stereo need feeds, either red - red and yellow to switched live if you want the stereo on with the ignition or put red and yellow together to the cars red if you want the stereo to be on all the time

just bought the alpine cde-9828rb 2004 spec, should be delivered in the next few days, anyone got that if so whats it like as i'll be rigi it up to the original nova speakers, 45 watts x 4, is that too much for the original speakers?
I managed to blow the paper cones in the rear with my 4x45 Pioneer head unit. It was deliberate mind! As long as you take it easy on them, you'll be fine for the time being. Do you have dash speakers, rear ones, or both? Ive found the 10cm Pioneer emotion speakers (yellow coned ones) are good as a dash speaker in a mk1 dash, wheras Ive fitted some amped 6x9s to the (stealth) parcel shelf. I know 6x9s aren't to everyones taste, but they produce reasonable bass in the context of my modest sound system, especially important as I don't have a sub.

i've got the 4 speaker set up with mk1 dash, we'll i am planning to upgrade but got really fancy my chances messing with the front dash speaker, had 6x9's before but dont plan to cut to parcel, and would only really consider upgrading the existing speaker keeping the original size.
