there isnt a 1.3 SRi. you probably mean the 1.3SR. Did you get those figures out of maxpower of revs? cause their wrong. the 1.4SRi does it in 10.9. I think the 1.3SR does it in about 11 n half and the 1.4SR does it in a bout 12. difference being the 1.4SR head is crap.

oh and I dont care what anyone says a standard 1.3SR will not beat a standard 1.4SRi

nope, ur looking at the 1.2i figures i think
1.2i = 17.5
1.2 = 14.5
1.3 = 11.9
1.4 = 11.7
1.4sri = 10.5
1.6gte = 9.1
1.6gsi = 8.9

The true fact is that my nova 1.2 diamond with just a full janspeed exhaust system managed to pulla 120mph and my mates 1.2 flair pulled the same down at crail over the quarter mile straight. Oh and a 1.3sr will beat a 1.4sr any day.

so it should be 14.5 then. Good i feel better now.

I have got an unmodded 1.2 Merit, and did a 0-60 test and did it in just over 12 seconds....... thats over 2 seconds faster than the claimed time of 14.5, and I haven't done any mods to it at all yet......

and my mates 1.2 flair pulled the same down at crail over the quarter mile straight.
hahahaha yeah im sure a 1.2 will do 120mph in a 1/4 mile NOT either crails timing is completely fucked or you meant your mate has a 2.1

p.s. the book times are done with 2x10stone adults in the front seats and 1/2 a tank of fuel and tyres inflated to the higher setting

Think you might of picked up someone elses timing slip, or is it a runway thats 1/4 mile wide? :P

I have timed the 0-60 on my merit before, unmodded bog standard and it was 13.3 something and a bit seconds.
Of course it may not have been a controlled test with windspeed and everything else taken into account but i was pleasantly suprised.

My old A-reg did 0-60 in about 20 seconds :D
Well...maybe 15, but I'd be surprised if it was any better than that.
It burnt so much oil, it may as well have been a diesel!
Piston rings?....what are they then?
My Antibes was a lot quicker though...I'd say 13ish to 60.
Quicker again with the 1.3 in, and quicker again with the JP...about 10ish to 60
Then again....it probably wasn't as quick as that...just seamed quick 'cos of the noise.

1.0L's shift surprisingly quick its unreal.
If looked after properly and adding certain bits like a ff zorst system, air filter, polished head etc they would give any 1.2 a damn good run for the money.
Whats a VTS then??

1.2i I have only put a peco back box on mine and I get to sixty in under 10seconds in mine but I take it too the end of the powerband... I have had a pathetic 105ish mph with 15s 205/50/15 on....
Sorted the handlin out so I just cane it round the corners

1.2i + Peco Back Box = 0-60 in under 10 seconds?
after 3.
1.........
2..........
3....
HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA - Course it does mate.

hahahahahahaha.....nice one :D
If I worked on the speedo readings of my old A-reg, I could do 130......it was way out of calibration. At 30, is read about 50....at 70, it read about 85 or 90...lol
Must be a case of "well, the speedo says it, so it must be true"......
Oh and Andy.....I only got home from Meadowhall at 23:30 :O My bloody clutch cable snapped :O.....storey to follow!

it took me 15 minutes to get to work and thats only round the corner as you know.

I had an (A)reg 1.2 4spd standard saloon a few years back. It was mint as an old granny owned it who did 1000 miles a year if your lucky. I would not say it was quick, nippy is almost right. The most i ever got out of it was 110mph on the M6 with 2 mates in the car. I was surprised at how well it moved. (compared with the manufacturers stats) I was also shiting myself incase something fell off. That was a mint engine, 32K on the clock when I gave it away to a scrappy when the rust started eating it. No way could a 1.2 go any faster. Especially not a 1.2i with a cat. That automatically takes 10mph off.
