Bought 1 of these a little while ago to get the best out my system.
0 guage wiring kit...
http://shop.mega-watt.co.uk/autoleads-pc4-28-dual-amp--0-gauge-amplifier-wiring-kit-free-delivery-143-p.asp

And bought 1 of these 2 days ago...
Apline CDA-9853R
http://www.dnacaraudio.co.uk/index.html/productinline/700/fruk

So cracked on today and got them fitted.
Sorry for cr4p pics they are off my phone.

Just need to get my amp next week or something now.
Connect the batt cable up to the batt.
Get some components which will most likely be...

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/rainbow-slx230-p-3855.html?cadid=51afa3fbba56cce54e0b622d6ad517aa

Or some Focals.

I also still need some GSi door cards with speaker holes :(

Anyone got any going cheap PM me!

NovaLad

Got my amp today so started by wiring it all up propper with everything screwed down or fixed down somehow.

Only wire that aint need is the speaker cable going from the sub to the amp.

Can't wait to have some carpet for that bloody box!

Fook, overkill on the power lead girth lol
Huge....

Did you make the sub box yourself?

Adam
15-08-08, 06:28 PM
Oh, and definently DONT colour code

Ernie
15-08-08, 06:40 PM
I would second the cable size.
Then again they could double as a set of jump leads if the batery goes flat lol.

NovaLad
15-08-08, 06:58 PM
Yeah made the box with my mate.

I'm 99% sure it's to the correct cubic feet for that model sub.

That's the cable size i need fellas as my sub and amp are such high RMS or whatever you want to call it.

Colour code what?

I am hopefully going to get some carpets for the rear arches and grey carpet for the sub box.

Adam
15-08-08, 07:05 PM
The bumpers....(as on last page)

I gaurantee you that cable is bigger than you need, 4 guage is heavy enough to run a few amps, never mind 0gauge ;) ( i had one 4g cable running two 4 channel amps, for two 12" subs, and components etc)

Maybe spray the sub box matt black...? Would look fine imo

NovaLad
15-08-08, 07:09 PM
Nah not colour coding the bumpers with this colour paint.

If you underpower anything it will **** it up.

Allways better to overpower.

I have checked the specs and a 0 guage is perfect but i could get away with a 1.

Atleast i have it now so if i upgrade more i will have the wiring already.

I'll be running 1 set of components off 1 amp soon and then when i got more money either another set off the same amp - 4 channell or have 2 amps so 1 amp per set of components.

I much prefare the capret look.

I'm not into shoddy looking carpeted subs so i will be doing it propper.

EDIT: Don't know if you will remember but i had a cheapest wiring kit going and a shoddy amp and set the amp on fire with that competition sub because of underpowering lol.

Iain
15-08-08, 07:13 PM
What amp is that anyway?

NovaLad

Update!!!

Since i had this new sound system i have had a hell of a lot of rattling coming from the nova and until recently it's been like that lol...

So with me being a student and that i decided not to buy the expensive sound deadening such as dynamat but to buy flashband that builders use for houses which is much more cheaper and works just aswell if you add layers.

I set about deadening the boot with 2 layers so far for the floor as you can see here which stopped a little rattling...
*PICS*

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1105-1.jpg

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1106-1.jpg

After the boot i had ordered some GSi rear door cards so thought well the grey ones are off why not do the inner quarter pannel and the out bit of it where the card goes. (not got a before pic of this & only got 1 side pic.)
*PICS*

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1119.jpg

I then fitted my GSi rear door cards which where a ball ache! mainly because the deadening made it hard to get the clips to go in even though i made holes for them...
*PICS*

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1121.jpg

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1122.jpg

Now with my boot floor and rear quarters deadend i have found 2 more sources of rattling which are front door cards/doors and the joint that clips into the back of the rear seats to hold them in place.

Once they are sorted i think anything else will be pretty quiet to hear or unless you are on the outside.

Also yesterday me and my mate decided to make a new front for my box and to port it this time. (not got a pic of this yet)

I am hoping to do the front cards tomorrow/today (30th).

BTW my sub is for sale PM me for details.

NovaLad

Weather aint bad for once so mite actually get some work done today!

NovaLad
06-10-08, 02:14 AM
Been after some components for the front for a while now but 1st i need a amp for them so i bought a 2 channel kicker amp...

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1617.jpg

Also bought some GSi doorcards with speaker holes so i don't have to butcher my perfect ones lol.

I get paid thurs so should be ordering my components then.

Looking at getting these... very good quality.

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1626.jpg

Sold the SR clocks on finally and actually bought GSI clocks which was what i was after in the 1st place lol..
These clocks work perfectly aswell (even the fuel dial reads correct :O lol)

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/MD_Crew/100_1631.jpg

Also got some new pads and discs which will go on tomorrow.

Looking at some new front tyres also

Ready for the winter!

I can't reccomend these (http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Ordern&cart_id=20799530.110.32465&typ=R-117880&ranzahl=4&Breite=185&Herst=Goodyear&Quer=60&Felge=14&Speed=H&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=12&Transport=P&F_F=&dsco=110&sowigan=So&Achse=) enough. If you're still using budgets on the back though I'd urge you to replace all 4 so you don't spin it like I did once or twice, before I was given the advice of having the best tyres on the back.

The tyres i have on atm are 155/65/14 For the fronts.

Would them 185/60 R14 http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Ordern&cart_id=20799530.110.32465&typ=R-117880&ranzahl=4&Breite=185&Herst=Goodyear&Quer=60&Felge=14&Speed=H&weiter=0&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=12&Transport=P&F_F=&dsco=110&sowigan=So&Achse=

fit?

Lee H
09-10-08, 02:57 PM
Depends which wheels you have at the moment as Vauxhall did two sizes of the 3 spokes, some are 4.5J (off Pearls and stuff like that) and some are 5J (off GSi's).

If they are the 5J ones 185 tyres will fit as I ran them on my old GSi.

NovaLad
09-10-08, 03:49 PM
yeah mine are 5J and not the 4.5J.

Got new discs and pads on today feels much better than before.

Going to look into these tyres now.

Will they be a much lower profile or something then with the numbers being diff?

Don't know how the tyre sizes work.

vaughanmc
09-10-08, 04:03 PM
185/55/14 is a good tyre size mate

Quite wide but a fairly small profile on the side

I had these fitted when my Corsa GSi alloys were on

Welsh Dan
09-10-08, 04:06 PM
Those tyres are 185mm tread width, 60% sidewall (60% of 185 so 111mm) on a 14 inch diameter rim. They're H rated so good for 130mph when carrying their maximum load.

Your current ones will have 101mm sidewalls, so the excellences will be a bit bigger. I'll find some pics of mine when I get home.

NovaLad
09-10-08, 04:14 PM
So in theory the ones i have on are just as good?

The make of the ones on are called GT and are 50 quid a tyre.

Welsh Dan
09-10-08, 05:56 PM
The price alone means nothing, and the reputations can be hard to fathom as you'll find contradictions all over tyre review sites.

In theory the ones you have are smaller ;).

Welsh Dan

http://www.xen0phobiak.f2s.com/novaload/excellence2.jpg

Those are the only 2 pics I can find right now of when I still had mine. Basically compared to what you've got the tread area will be 30mm wider, and the sidewalls will be about 10mm bigger aswell, but they should still fit fine. Thats as far as the specifications go though.

Tyres are very subjective and you'll find that many people love and hate many types. I can tell you first hand that my 185/60R14 F1's and the excellences that I used to replace the F1s that wore out were all fantastic in the wet.

NovaLad
10-10-08, 01:12 AM
Really don't want the sides any bigger TBH so i'll stick to what i have thanks anyway.
