why do you need the manifold for the 1.4? carbs dont have injectors, what engine do you have? E16SE Nova Gte?

if the ports match up you can keep the 1.4 inlet manifold.

putting the carb on will be quite easy, aslong as you've got the pipes for the autochoke, are you sure the engine is actually a carb engine though?

the 1.6 carb engine is a POS imho.

its got square inlet ports like the 1.4sr head. so your inlet form the sri wont fit. also there is no crank sensor for the ecu. PLUS running the 1.4 sri ecu on a 1600 engien wont really work too well (think lean here)

the head "going" that many tiems implies that the block isnt flat. The sri engine is a fantastic little beast (and as/if not more powerfull than the 1.6 carb engine)

thanks guys
the engine i managed to pick up was a 1.6 crab engine with fuel pump on the engine , were on the sri one it in the tank? i would have preferred to keep the original engine , but like i said the head now away 3 times in the space of a month , and managed to pick this engine of a mate for ?50 inc g/box so thought be cheeper this way as got a wedding in 10 week to pay for! arg!
if i couldnt use manifold from the 1.4 then the wires would be no use
looking for the quickest and cheepest way to fix
cheers

the 1.4 inlet contains the injectors and a couple of sensors for the ECU that runs the 1.4 engine. So your right as you say the wires would be of no use.

The carb engine has the pump on the head as tis a low pressure mechanical one, nothing like your high rpessure pump in/near the tank.

Maybe another member in scotland is local to you and could offer to help.

I honestly belive that your 1.4 block is warped and that needs the skim rather than the head but hey.

agreed with Stu, if you've had the head skimmed and the heads still gone the only other service that wont be flat is the block ;)
