been a busy boy "again" today. after work i decided i was going to weld some scaffold pole to my car!!! it worked a treat and the fit was spot on, should stiffen things up abit at least. ive leftenough inside to tie it into my cage when i get one aswell

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/nova17.jpg?t=1177622109

i did that at work and when i got home i put the umbrella up (it was raining :( ) and stripped my bottom end down so that the mods can start on that aswell :). so another productive day, jus cant wait till saturday to get my strengthening plates welded in and the rest of the seam welding done so its ready for paint

burgo
29-04-07, 11:32 AM

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/nova25.jpg?t=1177842559

i also got the other bit of scaffold bit in on the passenge side, cut down the corsa pedal, welding all round the front turrets and along the chassis legs and plated up the old filler hole but no pics of this :(. sorry about the picture quality aswell but its off my fone which is a ****ter as im well proud of my welding skills lol

burgo
22-05-07, 09:38 PM
well ive got good news and bad news. so i start with the bad news :(. i wont be having my 16v engine for pv. the reason is i fitted one of the con-rods to the piston but when i looked at it i was convinced the rod was bent. so being proper paranoid i thought i remove the piston again to check the rod properly. to do this i got a bloke at work to heat up the con rod so i could tap the pin out, only problem is we got it to hot and melted a bit of the piston. i think it would be ok but really dont want to risk it so im now gonna wait until i can afford proper pistons. what do other peeps think?
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/nova73.jpg

as for the good news my car has been painted :) the finish is really rather **** hot out of the gun so all the prep was worth it. just needs a quick polish and it'll be mint

What length is the loom supplied with the MS? Long enough to reach the bay?

Philsutton
22-05-07, 09:44 PM
Shells looking good, to be honest i wouldnt want to risk using that piston as annoying as it may be its going to be better to wait for some others i think. I was the same when building mine up, everything had to be perfect or it didnt happen but things still went wrong so you decide lol.

and yeah id wait regarding the piston

burgo
22-05-07, 10:00 PM
yes i thought that would be the case, just means ill have to bolt me 1.6 8v in instead. the ms loom is only about a meter long but im just gonna use most of the standard loom and join it when it comes into the car, should be neater that way

well its been another busy day but im really happy with how its beginning to look. ive not made mega progress as im cleaning everything before it goes back on which takes quite abit of time. anywho the first pic is of the bumper half way threw referb. i kinda discovered this method accidently but it brings them up like new. what you do is use a heat gun and basically melt the top layer of the bumper. you can see it change as you do it so its hard to mess up.

i then cleaned up my back panel and got that fitted

in this pic you can now see where my wiring for the engine comes threw and also the relocated bonnet cable

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/nova79.jpg

and this is how its standing now with all the glass back in and bumper on.

my brother also got alot of my loom soldered back up today but no pics of that but im really glad i decided to chop it up and make it fit the car again

I think basically you just heat them with a heat gun, obviously watch the plastic doesn't start properly melting,Lol.

Burgo, could you possibly do an expanded guide on your Bumper renovation ?

The results look absolutly fantastic !there really isnt much more i can say, you litterally just melt the surface with a heat gun. the best way to show it would be with a little vid possibly

it works well on most un painted plastic trims corsa arches for example just get it realy hot with a heat gun or realy powerfull hair dryer and you can litteraly watch it change colour infront of you but make sure your surface is clean first the other one is to use a blow torch but i personaly havent tryed this and wouldent advise it

oh and burgo awsome job mate very very impresed
