Should have been posted in Mechanical really.
I thought the coils are the same?? May depend on if the GSi engine is a c16se or e16se.
You will need the full loom from the GSi including the incar one (if you are going to do a proper job)
SRi brakes will be ok

imho a few choice mods will see the 1.4 sri upto the same power/pace as a 1.6gte/gsi... thus saving insurance and tax increases...

Agreed/\

Dont forget a sri is 82bhp WITH a cat, GTE is 100bhp without one.
So remove the cat, and that'll see you at probably 86ish bhp.
The other 10bhp(between sri and gte) is probably hardly noticeable.

Theres no way id go through the effort of changing a sri engine to gte, for a 10bhp gain, plus doubled insurance and tax, just aint worth it.

keep the sri in matey mine is now a full gsi replica just missing the gsi engine but as stated a few little mods and the sri will keep up with the gsi as mine is slowly but surely:)

sris are good if the engine is in good nick me and my mate have both got them and mine has the edge on it probably due to half the milage but any way there pretty quick. so my other mate bought one with a cam etc that has sat for a few years and it is slow might be due to it just having the cam slapped in never looked into this but it is a lot slower than ours.

T40's are a good idea and insurance companys arent that bad demending on your status im just 20, 3 points, 0ncb, 2 claims and i did a quote on a silly spec 1.6 t40 and it was 850 incl admin fees

mine is cheaper to insure as a E16SE GTE engine then a 14NV SR engine

Also, my prevoius GTE engined SRi was immensly better/faster then my (now 1.6) Spin

Cheapest route minus insurance cost's is GTE engine altho in the long depending on your circumstances the cheaper route could be a modified 1.4 SRi

doin an engine transplant in a nova is so easy that u could put the gsi in then do bits to it and then its faster than sri with bits done to it ive got full comp exhast n KnN stripped n i smoked my mates corsa gsi and a saxo vtr by a big distance its well worth doin
