I'm buying a MKI Astra, the guy i'm kind of seeing has a MK4 Astra, which is currently running approx 300 bhp!

I can point to point on country lanes nearly as fast in the 1.8 sri as i can in my vx... worrying really that its as good, or my vx is crap one of the two lol.

The comment was about my mates mk2 astra GTE which i was changing the suspension on yesterday, as everything broke or was impossible to put back together. His has order the new parts now tho, should be here tomorrow. This car was no where near as bad as his mk3 astra, that thing had been sat in the sea for 13 years judging by every single bolt being siezed solid when i was changing the suspension and wishbones.

lol and the list of things to fix on the mk2 grows daily, so far:

two fault codes.
leaking sump
super dodgy wiring
dodgy digi dash (try saying that pissed)
knocking from front left
arb bushes
discs and pads - pads are wearing into a V shape
im sure there's more, he wrote quite a long list.

and in the 4 years i've owned my nova, i've serviced it once a year and modified it. He's own 3 astra's and just seem to get me to repair them. So in conclusion nova's are much better to own than an astra :D

EDIT: been looking at it while, only things i would change are the exhaust and phase2 mirrors

i've always loved GTE's and GSi astras and i will probably have one, i just think my mates been unlucky and im the one who has to fix it.

lol yea im going to see how long mine last, i've always wonder why they don't let you have them tho - they look so cool, esp on red cars. I thought it might be to do with speed cameras, but im sure pre '67 can break the speed limits, so there must be another reason.

Current ones are reflective, old ones aren't and so don't show up at night so well. Silver on black is also harder to read. :thumb:
