As the title says

What bits from the Nova Swing can be used on the Nova Sport - Because i know where one (local to me) is doing nothing

My dad says its a whole car with no windows -- In a Scrapyard :)

Cheers, Vaughan

any mk1 panels, all glass, suspension, brakes are a possiblity (altho sports are prolly better anyway)

oohhh, and nearly every nut and bolt is interchangable if you want to be picky :thumb:

i mean stuff you could possibly slip into the pocket without them noticing -- then asking for the big parts :)

virtually fcuk all tbh, sports are mainly different due to:

Graphics
Engine/Exhaust
Interior

All of which you aint going to fit in your pockets no matter how hard you try!

Their isn't many Sports with the original radio blanking plate attached. I've currently got a Sport, my 2nd! plus I know a couple of guys who have one and I have never seen the blanking plate yet.

As for converting a Swing to a Sport my best advice is to forget it. I'd sooner bide my time and buy a bona fide Sport rust bucket and convert it than pump a shed load of money into a replica. Not because it couldn't be done but because I'd want the chassis numbers to be a Sport and Sport only. It'll never be a Sport unless the numbers say so.:thumb:

yeah same here -- but see like the hard to get bits for the sport i thought they could be like taken from a swing (since its a base model) and put into a sport

like buy the bits then sell them to sport owners -- i'm not gonna have a sport anytime soon

just trying to help out and that :)

i read in TV a few years back that the sport was based on a Nova Swing...

*cobra*
11-04-07, 11:29 PM
Oh absolutely it doesn't matter if you salvage parts from other Nova models so long as they look the same as the Sport. Something tells me that the Swing was grey chequered not brown but I'm probably wrong.

burgo

i thought the sports were based on nova stings

vaughanmc
11-04-07, 11:31 PM
i thought the sports were based on nova stings

some say base model
some say SR
some say Swing (like me)

what other conceptions is there?

burgo
11-04-07, 11:33 PM
i beleave most say base, but im sure i read somewhere that they were all converted from stings. could be wrong tho

Just double chequed an old 'Total Vaux' mag from May last year and you're 100% correct! the Sport was based on the Swing.:thumb:

vaughanmc
11-04-07, 11:37 PM
so there could be some valueables in that swing??

Mint FRST
11-04-07, 11:37 PM
5000 Mk1 swings were built supposedly with an Evo model of 10% ala Sport although not all these were built. Enough said do a search! Sorry, beers speaking after the game!

^^^ makes some...sense

I'd say if you can get a good condition Swing with brown interior snap it up. It's gonna be as close to a Sport as you're ever likely to get without it actually being one.:thumb:

vaughanmc
11-04-07, 11:42 PM
it has no windows or anything -- i was wanting it for the parts that could go into the sport

see what interest they could get if i tryed to sell them...

*cobra*
11-04-07, 11:44 PM
As regards windows I wouldn't worry about that little matter! clear glass Nova glass is still out there.

vaughanmc
11-04-07, 11:45 PM
i don't know what kinda condition either and...i have my nova now

i just wanted to see what parts the nova swing had that the nova sport also had

*cobra*
11-04-07, 11:47 PM
If the complete interior is brown then gut it out and you're half roads there.

vaughanmc
11-04-07, 11:48 PM
i think my dad said it was grey -- not 2 sure though

*cobra*
11-04-07, 11:51 PM
If it's grey don't touch it because it's defeating the purpose. Like I already mentioned something still tells me that the Swing was grey chequered from previous memory.

vaughanmc
11-04-07, 11:52 PM
would the dash and so on not be brown?

*cobra*
11-04-07, 11:56 PM
If the interior is brown then so will the dash. What you found over the years is that people who had a Nova Base model whether it be Sport or whatever, butchered the car by taking the brown interior out and adding GTE/GSi etc. They never realised that some day the brown interior would be very much sought after.

vaughanmc
11-04-07, 11:58 PM
yeah -- i'll go down and see what that wee Swings like then tell you what could be taken for a sport restoration...

*cobra*
12-04-07, 12:02 AM
At the end of the day you can take body panels and all because they're the same and you'd spray them white anyhow! as for the interior, so long as 'everything' is brown carpets, dash, seats then gut the car out. You'll find that the dash may be slightly different because the Sport hadn't got the air vents at the sides nor door pockets on the door panels. Let me know how you get on.:thumb:

Mint FRST

depending on condition, the boot might be worth a few quid-no grab handle....

vaughanmc
21-04-07, 05:42 PM
i think a good old jet-wash and a clean-up would cure the boot

but theres some rust starting on it -- and what about the seamless rear bumper???

that worth anything?

vaughanmc
21-04-07, 06:10 PM
Theres also a MK1 Nova 2-door Saloon at that scrappy if anyone needs anything from it I could go back...
