Hello to everyone,

often i heart about ways of "upgrading" an engine in UK, so i hope
some guys of you have experiences with this or can help me anyway.

Me and a friend of mine want to add a turbo manifold to a C16SEI
engine.

What I heard about was, that we have to use a engine-head with less
compression than the C16SEI has, e.g. one of the C12NZ.

Can someone give some more help with this "problem"?

What we got is a turbo manifold of an Fiat Uno 1.4 Turbo,
which should have the right size for a smallblock-engine.
And some different engines, such as C16SEI, C12NZ, C14NZ oder even
a 13SB with Irmscher-injection-Kit (this 1.3 engine with 82 bhp).

At first we thought of the 13SB, but in fact we have only one engine of
this kind, so we don't want to damage this one at first, in worst case
something goes wrong.

So, would be thankful for your help.

Regards, Marsi.

there is no standard head with less compression than the 1.6 head on the 1.6 bottom end... if you fit a 13sb head the compression ratio will go up sooooo high youd barely cope at idle.

interesting that Uno Turbo manifold, ive just looked and they come off the rear of the engine but would definetly fould the radiator if some how fitted to a GM block

Anyway, you can actually buy them direct from www.mvaux.com (http://www.mvaux.com)

I looked at using a C16NZ block, with a E16se Head ;)
As the c16nz is quite low comp, even lower with a SE head.

It gives a CR that should enable you to run boost, would need measure the cr accurately to find how much tho.

?600 for a turbo??? has anyone got a site to get stuff that cheap for the c14se? lol

Yeah, the same kit...... Lol

Price is about the norm tbh, cast manifold etc. You can pickup a turbo quite cheaply.
The reason for the price is because it misses out the most expensive/important part, proper management(?500-?1000)

and the quality of the kit isnt uber good, you'd ideally get the manifold faced etc before using it as they tend to come in warped :s

warped? lol

oh yer i never noticed the lack of engine management lol

warped? lol

oh yer i never noticed the lack of engine management lol

and lack of intercooler, lack of lower exhaust section and as said managment

warped? lol

Yep, a lot of power have fitted them, to find where the manifold meets the head, the surface isn't flat, so it blows.

thanks guys so far,
think Stuart we both missunderstood ourselves,
question was (me and my fellow asked ourselves) wether to use an 13SB engine
or a C16SEI engine, not making a crossover of both.
i think we will use a c16sei as long as we have more parts of these
engines

think i will report to you as soon as the project developes

a 13SB bottom end with a 16sei head would make a great low compresison turbo engine, and then you just need to add the 1.6 turbo kit bits...and an ECU.

Hmmm. 1300 or 1600. Quite a difference seeing as 100bhp would be mildly impressive in a 1300 yet depressing from a 1600.

need to mark out the goal posts & make decisions based on what you want the outcome to be.

imho, if properly done you could get nealy 200bhp from a 1.2 8v engine if you were cunning about it.... meh lol
