alright folks i have a nova redtop.the other day when i started it was a bit spluttery and when you reved i tup black smoke was coming of it.its been slowly getting worse.now i have got to the stage it takes a min or two to start and the min you try rev it it just cuts out.i have checked there is fuel getting to the rail,which there is,the leads are sparking,i cant really understand it,and a month ago i fitted new leads,plugs,cap,rotor arm amd fuel filter,it was going well up in till the other night,so cant imagine its these at fault,plus drained all petrol out it tonight just incase,but no different.any ideas,as im now car less

hi mate i had this problem an have you checked that no air is getting in between airbox an airflow meter?? also causing spluttering could be the airflow meter. if you need 1 let me know.
check the temp sensor, although this only causes problems when its warm.
Sounds as though its a spark issue somewhere

Have you gapped the plugs correctly?
Try an extra earth lead from the -ve terminal on the battery to the adjuster bracket on the alternator. Worked for me.

well i have tried putting a jump lead from earth terminal to engine,no difference. but tonight i unplugged the air flow meterand it reved up almost nae bother,so looks like this might be problem,will try new one,cheers

tried the new air flow meter last night, its still doing same thnig,any other ideas folks

forgot to meantion,it was splurting and back fireing so when opened the bonnet noticed the sfi box was only on with one bolt and it was as loose as old hell.so i got put new bolts in,now it secure.its not until i did this that ihave had the problem it not reving at all.could it be used to gettingmore air or something,i dont really know.or it couldjust be the first problemgetting worse

do u notice a wile strong smell of fuel from the exhaust or the engine?

you mite hav a split fuel line and its drawing air and makn ur car miss check the fuel lines for cracks or hole or any signs that petrol is leaking
