Depends

Gearbox in question???
Wheels size
Tyre profile
Final Drive Ratio
And so on.......

Before you get clever about a topic, do some research!

What are you insinuating here fcucktard? That we dont know? That were just randomly posting make believe figures?

Stuart
11-04-07, 09:33 PM
lol so you dont know if its WR or CR, you dont know your rev limit, and i bet you dont knwo your FD..... so all in a waste of my bandwidth

Jon_nova1
11-04-07, 09:44 PM
Im sorry Stu, i too wasted your bandwidth, but thats mainly due to my lazyness in not checking what gearbox i have and my profiles in the dark:(

oh but i did notice a while ago your 1.4 guide seems to stretch a really long way and i have to scroll horizontally?

Jon_nova1
11-04-07, 09:46 PM
no it doesn't, you have no idea how amusing i found that.

i've only seen redtops go 140MPH lol

the 1400 guide formats fine on all machines i use. Odd.

Mick, with the amount of wind resistance you'd have at that speed, if you ever manahed to reach 145MPH in a nova, you'd sh*t one and never go there again ;)

micknova

Mick, with the amount of wind resistance you'd have at that speed, if you ever manahed to reach 145MPH in a nova, you'd sh*t one and never go there again ;)people have just been having a go at me for saying novas do not go over 150mph on standard boxes but stuart gave me a link that calculates it.it seems like hes gone to a lot of trouble with it to figure it all out.i dont think he would have done it inaccurate.

Stoo
11-04-07, 10:02 PM
Relative speed, Perfect scenario, yes!!

Real world, wind resistance, road surface, tyres, driver skill (LACK OF) etc etc
Not as easy as you think
And WHY

Stuart
11-04-07, 10:03 PM
if you read the disclaimer on my page you will see that it states the setup is capable of doing those speeds IF there is enough power to overcome wind resistance/losses etc

micknova
11-04-07, 10:05 PM
yeah so my speeds were pretty right it just needs perfect conditions.:D

Stoo
11-04-07, 10:07 PM
No your speeds werent right, your speedo/rev counter are nowhere near accurate!

GPS maybe but no way you were doing that speed vs revs!

Not in a breeze block

Jon_nova1
11-04-07, 10:08 PM
perfect conditions being no wind resistance, so you'd either need no air or the wind blowing 150MPH in the direction your going, and also zero friction on the tyres slowing you down, which would mean you wouldn't be able to grip?

Lee
11-04-07, 10:13 PM
So this thread has basiacally confirmed that your car will go 155 mph if theres no oxygen or road resistance.

This wins the award for most retarded thread ever!

micknova
11-04-07, 10:14 PM
i dont understand you,you are contradicting yourselves one minute a nova can do 160mph the next 140mph i started this thread to find out what speeds gearboxs do,can i have a simple answer.eg:mph@rpm:wtf:

Stuart
11-04-07, 10:15 PM
yes you have an rpm vs engine speed. BUT you still need the power to overcome the losses to actually achieve that speed... infact ill mess about with my power for speed calculator..

added

to do 150mph in a nova you would need approx 160bhp at the wheels.

NO, because quite simply, when all is said and done, and all other exeptions have been considered...

.. we dont give a flying fcuk!

BUT you still need the power to overcome the losses to actually achieve that speed... infact ill mess about with my power for speed calculator..yeah so how fast on standard power i want 200bhp eventually.just got qed cams and fully gas flowed head to start.also what 0-60 do u think i could get with standard power.im stripped out just dash and 2 front seats.oh and electric windows and doorcards{front**

i never started this subject it was some one else im just tryin to wieve my way out of your bad books.

Jon_nova1
11-04-07, 10:26 PM
yes, as bottlethroddy says, but you'd also need grip the zero gravity would take away to actually get you moving, but in having grip to get your car moving you would actually slow your car down by having grip you need to get your car moving in the first place ;)

Lee
11-04-07, 10:29 PM

Before you get clever about a topic, do some research!

agreed :thumb:

AND if you want to be real smart, work out your total frontal mass to calcualte resistance, then take into consideration the wind resistance, thevehicle weight (+ driver + fuel + fluids) grip will differ from tyre to tyre and surface to surface resulting in differences in in gear acceleration resulting in a slightly different speed/s being achievable

if your unsure of something, instead of not speaking, just ask, but if its a dumbass comment, then dont bother, or if its the equivalent of "do lexus lights look good" also dont bother

also dont talk in text, you'll get a much better response lol

If you think, i sound a tool, fair play, re-write it and post it up

If you think, Fukkin yes mate i sound proper boss, then your gonna sound like a tool! Rewrite it!

What you dont do is post up that you are proffesor knowitall, when you really know nothing(hence the question in the first place) and then argue a persons technical findings!!

Lesson learned??

lol what have i missed here. Anyway the gearbox I put on micks nova wasnt a cr F16 but thats all i can remember lmfao. Like ive always said 135mph is more believable for a nova. I mean if i only managed to get a recorded 141mph over the standing mile in mine, an i was very close to hitting the limiter in 6th then a 150bhp nova has no hope of getting it.

Also stu it says i should be able to get 180ish in mine banging it off the limiter on my big ass profile 15s i'll be using this year. That best be right otherwise all the chavs at co-op are going to laugh at me as i told them i could do 190mph.
