Ive done it on a corsa too.

You have to remove part of the switch so it fits in but will still do the same.

I would imagine that Cav and Astra 3's will do the same.

Adam
09-04-07, 08:09 PM
It works on all mk2's.
Unless the switch socket has been modded, or a diode has been fitted.

Riggy
09-04-07, 08:12 PM
lol it also works on mk1's with a mk2 dash fitted

its a design flaw thats all.... a fairly easy one to "create"

Hell ive seen some glaring issues with various immo/speed control etc software that a non "iffy charater" wouldnt have thought of in the work i do daily and sold in hundreds and thousands of vehicles lol

it doesn't do it on all novas, on the ones without the clock (like mine) the pocket in its place has a lip on the top, so if you try it the switch doesn't go in far enough

lift it over the clip and it will work then

i think this thread needs deleting what are u all thinking of discussing this your asking for your novas to be pinched dont forget u get guests on here who could be anyone please stop telling the world how to steel our awsome cars:cry:

Stuart

if youve not got an immobiliser than you deserve to have your car nicked to be fair.

this is a "valid" discussion point to fix the huge glaring problem that GM kindly put into the cars.

Also if a pikey wants it, a pikey will take it

lol good point well made

good point about immobiliser but most knobs would still smash your window to try and get it because most car thefts are dumb stupid pricks:thumb:

who needs to smash a window..

just remove the window seal and slide it down into the door and push the barfor the lock down hey prestolol lol lol lol

micknova
09-04-07, 09:25 PM
yeah but i think most nova theives would just smash the window your thinkin too much into it

Hmm RJM25R's Nova is near me lmao .... oj

most nova theives bed the door down lol which annoys me as you can get into one without breaking anything within seconds with no tools. Best thing to do to stop your nova going walk abouts is to take the king lead with you when you leave the car, it'll never drive away then no matter how much they crank it over.

Martin

you dont need to think about it at all.. if you remove the seal u can clearly see about 1.5-2" gap its commonsence.. and before anyone says it.. theives do have some

Agreed. Another good way of immobilising it is to snip the ignition lead somewhere inaccessible in the loom, and run a switch to a concealed location somewhere. (mine was in the ash tray in the blue one). Then its impossible to hotwire unless theyre prepared to rip the dash out and trace the wires lol

Also, a concealed battery isolation switch is another good one. If i were to run another desirable road going nova, i would install a drycell battery in the boot and hide a cutoff switch somewhere down the car.

STEERING LOCK ... i love them lol

STEERING LOCK ... i love them lol

makes it easier to break the steering lock on the car..

unless its one of them disc tyre thingys

vaughanmc
09-04-07, 09:36 PM
i put the steering lock on, on my car then one of them auto-lock bar things

but a kill-switch is coming soon...

NovaLad
09-04-07, 09:53 PM
Yeh the steering lock that covers ya wheel is the best .. with a handbreak lock ...

Jon_nova1

sorry to say lads and ladies, but i've got the best anti theft device to stop my car being driven away....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/Unicorn007/DSCF0387.jpg

its only temporary lol

we all know novas are probably the easiest to rob, i know someone that actually opened the door up and welded a thick metal bar on the inside so the door couldn't get bent back then welded the door back together, i've also got a fuel cut on mine, but no other security, although i do plan to get an Immobiliser and alarm, depending on how the immobilisers wired, the hazard light thing can still work

i live neer a very "rough" estate so i have ....

regular steering lock
steering wheel cover lock
handbrake lock
diode in hazard switch
cut off switch hidden ;)
fuel pump imobilizer
fuel cut off switch
driveway with cctv and electric gates

so i made it difficult (but not impossible) to steal mine lol

NovaLad

Hmm and i have a lorry lol ...

vaughanmc

I tried the hazard switch trick and got the car going but the f***ing steering lock came on after I drove it for about 3 meters. Nearly crashed it in to my friends SR!! :-D :-D:-D

Stuart
10-04-07, 07:50 AM
that will teach you for being a cretin then lol

hendrix
10-04-07, 09:39 AM
we had a cut off switch on the SR, it was really well hidden too. Ill tell you where it is seeing as it doesnt even run anymore!!
On the MK1 dash centre console there are them weird push thingys for storing cassettes, the top one was cut out to allow a switch behind it. When you put the cassette thing back you couldn't tell there was a switch there :thumb:
ill get pics if anyone is interested, altho no one probably is lol lol
