Well the tax has run out so the project starts!!!
i will try and keep this up to date as much as possible.

A little about the project.

Base car is a 1988 1.3 sr fairly bog standard. im the 4th owner and paid ?485 for it. Dosnt seem to be any rot anywhere and the under side is as clean as the body. there has been no welding apart form a tiny plate in the boot.

i have ran the car for 6 months which has given me time to source parts for the build.

i plan to keep the looks and interior as they are. im thinking about a fibleglass boot and bonnet and also perspex windows.

i plan on getting a local sign writer to make up new vinal for the boot the same as standard but with 2.0SR as apposed to 1.3SR.

If you ever wanted to get rid of the rolling shell, I'd snap it up, assuming it still looks as good as it does. White mk1 SR's are the best looking Novas IMO. Too rare now.

Judging by the ride height on the rear it looks about spot on. Cant wait to drop the engine in to see how the front sits.

I did toy with the idea, maybe some from a GTE painted in the same colour as the origional 13" ones. (if i can find a clean set!) ;)

only got the steels as the 3 spokes wont go over the 16v brakes

ive baught some revolution RFX in 14". not decided on what colour and finish ill have them in yet

Steve

3 spokes can be made to fit, you just need to shave the callipers until you have the clearance. :thumb:

white2lSR
29-07-08, 09:56 PM
id rather not do any shaving of the calipers. They are as they are for a reason and so i wouldnt mess about with them

its taken over a year lol

ive taken it for a little spin and im very happy with it.

does put a little guff out when you give the throttle a good blip but its gettign better the more its run. I put this down to the fact the engine hasnt been run for a while.

(the smoke isnt blue which is a good sign)

Just a quick update. Fitted the RFXs finally after having them blasted and painted Glacier white. Im well happy with the result as this is exacly the look a wanted :- Old Skool Cool.
Now i just need to get a few little bits tidied up on the body and put some orange indicators on.

white2lSR

Its going great. Ive done 1000 miles in it now since the engine was fitted and im going to give it a good service next weekend. The sump gasket has also started to weep so ill be doing that as well.

The best thing about it is the looks and comments you get from complete strangers.
