Thanx in advance

Basically you need to do some research before considering an engine transplant.
I too am considering the swap from a 1.4 to a GTE lump. I've spoke to a number of people about this conversion. Namely both CP and MC at the Novatech rolling road day, and MC at Southend. I spoke to a guy at the SOE cruise who had a turbocharged GTE which was originally a 1.3SR. Gaining information from exsisting conversions is by far the easiest way. All the people i have spoken too have been very receptive, they have always shown exactly what and where they have changed parts, where they came from etc... It is so much easier when the car is sitting in front of you aswell.
I'm not saying not to use the website as it is a very useful resource, but consider other sites too. There is alot of useful information on the web, you just need to find it.
It is also important to know what you want to use your car for. I have decided to go down the twin 40's route as it will make the conversion easier for me. It will mean not using the ECU for the fuelling but using the distibutor for the ignition. This will eliminate alot of the wiring. I have been able to follow Austin_Nova's swap to a 2L 16V running on twin carbs too (from 1.3SR). This has shown me the basics of setting up the carbs and the linkage/fuel pump etc.. required.
As i said before, most importantly, ask other people who have done similar, they will know exactly what to do!
Hope this helps. I will try and take as many pics when i do my conversion, and if u see me, or any other person with an engine conversion, do not be afraid to ask, they will more than likely be very happy to help!
I think most people will agree with me on this.

Agree with what's been said so far. It also depends on the engine, too. I have a 1800 CD engine which I was going to put in a Nova, but I've since been given a Mk2 Cavvy 2.0CDi, so I gonnna use that instead. The annoying thing is, the wiring loom for the 1.8 is totally seperate in the engine bay from the rest of the car as the ECU is mounted on the bulkhead, you just unplug it and lift it all out. The 2 litre engine has the ECU inside the car, meaning the wiring will be that much harder. So much so I might still go with the 1.8 for simplicity. I think it's only the difference of 12 stallions anyway, both on a F16 box.
