Brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture from the atmosphere, Dot 5 brkae fluid is good but it is very hygroscopic and I wouldn't reccomend it for everyday use in a daily driver/track car. Dot 4 fluid will be best, it will absorb less moisture over time and is cheaper, it will also still only boil at silly temperatures from the hardest sustained braking. What disc/caliper set up are you using?

halfords dot 5 stuff seems ok in the astra, but the vx has ATE super blue in there and its amazing for brake fluid...

you want something like "600" spec brake fluid such as RBF600 from motul, AP600 etc, or ate super blue (similar spec and its blue so you can tell its coming out)

ebay usually has lots of new fluid on the cheap
